i have a bad problem eating when i am bored?


Question:
if i am watching tv and the adverts come on i will go straight into the kitchen and get somthing to eat!!

I have this same problem and it put alot of weight on me. I fixed it by changing what I snack on. Now I have baby carrots, sliced cucumbers, bananas, and various other fruit and veggies, grapes are really good. I always make sure to have plenty on hand and ready to eat right away when I go hunting.

This has allowed me to eat much better without the calories.

you dont have to lose the habit, just munch on something more heathly like grapes carrots etc.

i do it too. you're not the only one. try to think about something else. get some magazines next to your tv and read them while you're waiting for you're show to come back one.
Drink water and grab a healthy snack. Veggies that are mainly water (cucumbers, lettuce, etc) are the best 'cause they are super low on calories.
before you eat think hard "Are you actually hungry?" if not don't eat oh and don't eat more just cause it tastes good but your already full
That happens to me too. But i figured out it was because I needed something to do. So then, I started doing stuff like scrapbooking while watching T.V. and if i went into the kitchen, i get something healthy like water and a banana. ( :
OMG! Believe me I am EXACTLY the same... everytime im bored or watching TV and especially when my favorite TV shows are on i grab something 2 eat! I solved it by getting a big bad of assorted hard candy ! Hard candy lasts long and keeps me from getting bored....
If you really feel compelled to snack, grab something like fresh blueberries or popcorn (minus the butter and salt). Ask yourself if you're really hungry, or just in the mindset to snack. If you're not feeling really famished, brush your teeth! It helps make your mouth feel fresh and may curb your appetite for snacking.
do something else besides sitting and watching tv. go for a walk. or get a hobby that includes moving around more. read tips and articles on healthier eating and exercise on this site
I used to have that problem too I figured out that its not flavour its the feeling of having something in your mouth so I just try chewing on ice when i feel bored and i dunt wanna get into de habit again

This is a symptom of habit and nervous energy. The habit can be changed and replaced...try doing jumping jacks, pushups, situps or just plain old kinetic stretching during commercials. Also drinking water helps ease yourself out of the habit of chewing as a means of stress release. However, the 3 things that helped most for me were...My friends-got out and did things(frisbee, wrestling, hiking), my girlfriend now wife-sexercise and making out, and the animals- a quick chase is always good fun.
If your bored try to do something around the house! Oh and eat fruits or veegie and drink water! good luck

Become more active to avoid boredom. I find that if I keep busy, the thought of food does not enter the mind.
