How do we fix the obesity epidemic in America?

Turn the tv off and do something to break a sweat. Do this daily, and you will be much happier and healthier.

As for eats, there are soooo many commercials on tv and in radio for fast foods. The kids' channels are LOADED with these commercials, so naturally the kids want this junk 'cause it's presented as cool and fun. I think people need to cook at home much more often, and shop mainly around the perimeters of the supermarkets, bypassing most of the packaged foods found in isles. Some isle shopping is necessary, like for pet food and toiletries, but the perimeters are where the fresh foods are stored.

I don't think the obesity epidemic can be fixed by just one method alone, it takes several methods to attain and sustain healthy fat loss.

With the gas prices as high as they are, I hope people start using bicycles more. These prices are killer! Some folks can't pedal to work 'cause their jobs are too far, but others still can.

everyone get out and do more things.not even strenuous activities, but if everyone took a walk every day, and ate more healthy, we'd all lose a lot more weight. Or.get off the computer and get dirrrty

Get rid of cars and replace with more public transportation. People in Europe eat chocolate strudel for breakfast but don't get fat because they WALK everywhere.

A few years ago I went to Austria and while climbing switchbacks to the top of a castle, an 80 year old man passed our group of 20 year olds. Nothing will fix this epidemic. This is a unique opportunity for society to watch evolution by natural selection in progress.
Do obese people know they are obese?
Are they aware of the harmfull side effects?
Do they know why they are overweight?

Of course they do. It's rather interesting what people will put themselves throught simply because they are lazy. Promote more healthy eating and "cooking at home with fresh fruit and veg."
No use doing all this exercise and sh*t if you still eat the same old rubbish,,you have to learn different eating/cooking habits,,,use fresh ingredients not all packet crap,,and stay away from all the deep fried horror and cheese drooled over everything,,,DOH !
This stuff might be ok once a fortnight or so but not as a staple diet ! take out alot of the crap they add in and preservatives. it not only has been making people fatter, but is killing us. the other is their is to much tech out there that is making everyone lazy and dependant on it. their is so much rech toys out there doing everything for us, we take it for granted and depend alot less on the old ways.
