Probably Not-- If you starve yourself, your metabolism will slow down. plus - you will have denied yourself necessary nutrients - so you will have increased your risk of illness.
Better to drastically reduce or eliminate concentrated sugars (including soft drinks), breads, pasta, rice, junk foods/comfort foods, and all fried foods.
If you do this - you will notice a difference - even in only a few days.
ps - the drinking water exclusively part - is actually good: It's the exclusiveness of eating protein bars that will not be good. your body needs more nourishment than protein these bars can provide - use them as a supplement to a healthy eating plan, not as a substitute for a healthy eating plan.

A crash diet never helps. Go for a more systematic cutting down of fat etc from your diet. Drink a lot of water and fresh fruit jucies. Aviod stuff like french fries, rice etc.

The best thing to do is reduce your calorie intake to 1500 Calories and increase your activity. 1-2 pounds a week in a better goal and this will limit the loose skin thing. It's possible, then when you go back to your normal diet, you will gain 10-15 pounds back. Stupid diets get stupid results. Eat a healthy proper diet and exercise. Lose weight gradually and it will stay off. If you needed to lose weight by a certain time, you should have thought of it sooner.
don't know about that but if yoy try the general motors diet you will. yoyo dieting however is not the greatest thing for your health.
