my knee is swollen and hurts...what's the best way to make it feel better?

Question:

Answers:
If you injured it- rest it and ice it. Take an ibuprofen. Give it a day or two and see how it starts to feel.
If you did not injure it- you need to see a doctor. It could be due to and inflammatory arthritis or a bacterial infection- you may have to have it aspirated (drained) and the fluid can be sent for culture- you can still do the above until you get in to see him.
If the pain worsens or becomes unbearable- go to the ER- they can aspirate it there if it needs to be.

Other Answers:
Take an anti-inflamatory such as Advil and rest it.
go see a doctor , dont joke with such things
ice!!

go buy one of those soft gel packs you can stick in the freezer. they are better cos u can wrap them round ur leg and not get all drippy wet

take some anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen or motrin
:P
Ibuprofen, unfortunately. Especially if the pain is exercise-related. If so, I would consider cutting down on practice time.

Sorry, but it's true.

Give it about 4-6 days.
ice... it will numb it... trust me just put an ice pack on it without anything else (no paper towel or anything)... it will be cold for a little and then you wont feel much pain
Take an ace bandage and wrap it and then ice it remember RICE
R=rest I=Ice C=compression E=elevate. Also take some ibuprofen for the swelling and pain
go out to a pharmacy or drug store or maybe heath store and pick up (or in your case have someone else do it for u) some arnica gel. put this on and alternate between ice packs and warm packs.
RICE Rest Ice Compresion Elevation. Look it up on the net under frst aid.
elevate your leg, ice your knee for 10 min every hour you are awake

take an antinflammatory like ibuprofen @ 400 mg then 200 mg every 6 hours

if it is still very swollen on Monday see a doctor
soak in dead sea salt
you should take a towel put it in warm water with salt and then put it over your knee... that should ease the pain and dont exercise much... take care
Personally, I would either take MSM orally with water or food ...
OR, apply DMSO topically (ONLY after THOROUGH Washing &Rinsing, making sure there is NO residue, AND DON'T let Any synthetics Touch it! Un-dyed Cotton is OK. DMSO feels oily, but will eventually soak into your skin & blood-stream. It can dissolve synthetics & other stuff, so be Very Careful to have the skin Thoroughly Clean before using it that way. Also --to avoid skin irritation--
>mix 20% distilled water (or aloe juice), with 80% DMSO<.

Both MSM & DMSO take swelling Down, & prevent further tissue damage from poor circulation (caused by swelling). They promote better circulation. I've used them on both sprains & tissue tears, with excellent results. I've read that very few persons are sensitive to either, but have no proof of that. A few that have high blood pressure reportedly should not take it, though.

I don't know anyone involved in selling either --and am not myself-- but here's a Web page with info on MSM, (including a book's name -- about how it helps with pain):

Sulfur - MSM - methyl sulfonyl methane - Natural Health Site

Both are available in Health Food Stores & some markets, while DMSO can also be found at many feed stores.
