I have a question about jogging...

Question:
I want to know if my exercise pattern is ok or if I should change it. I run about 2 1/2 miles for 3-4 days skip a day and run for 3-4 more days skip ect..I also do push ups sit ups jump rope throughout. Is that enough to be average fit? Or should I run ever other day? Also I am 5'9 200lbs I feel that between 190-200 is my perfect weight, according to the BMI index I should be at 170 I will NEVER be at 170 nor do I think I need to be..how much stock do you put in BMI?

Answers:
I think you have a sound fitness plan. I think as time goes along you may want to add a few more miles, but overall, you have a reasonable fitness plan that enables you to get your heart revved up and you are working some most of your muscle groups.

I'd say the 3 - 4 days of running is fine. However, if you are prone to injury, you may want to go every other day. I know when I started running 3 - 4 days in a row without a break, my injury level crept upwards. However, you are only running 2.5 miles, so I think you should be fine.

As far as BMI goes, I do put some faith in it for the average Joe. However, if you are muscular (i.e. body-builder build) you'll be setting yourself up for disappointment. You should get a body fat level assessment at the gym or buy a body fat scale (they are like $50). You can be 250 pounds with a body fat percentage of 8% and you'd be extremely fit (where as the BMI would say you are obese). Also, you could be 160 pounds with a body fat of 30% and you'd be chubby in my book (but BMI would say you are thin).

I think you could be 170 pounds if you upper your mileage and watched you calorie intake. It depends how serious you are about your fitness goals. Use a free website such as http://www.fitday.com to track your calories and expenditures.

Good luck.

well you are suppose to exercise 3 times a week and you do more than that so i think your good<3

How does it feel?

Trust your body. You know what you are doing. on paper. Now trust your body to tell you weather you are doing to much or to little.

BMI is ballpark rating. You compare you to you not to 170.

ur suppose to walk an hour a day so yea well it sounds ok
