Has anyone had a tummy tuck after 2 c-sections?

NO matter how small you get, after having kids and csections there is a flab that is impossible to lose. I have done tons of crunches and yoga ab toning.and its still there. Asked dr. and he said that you cant completely lose it without surgery. So, I hear that after csections you are less likely to heal and complication rates are higher. Wondering if anyone else had been through it with success or failure?

I am an anesthesiologist that works with a plastic surgeon, and we do a lot of "tummy tucks" (abdominoplasties).

One of the major reasons for having an abdominoplasty is looseness of the abdominal fascia. That is the layer that holds your guts in, and it's like a tough membrane. It is not muscular, so no amount of exercise will tighten it. A surgeon can go in and, basically, sew pleats in it to pull it all together and give you a firm belly.

Once the fascia is tight, the extra skin is pulled down and the excess cut off at the bottom. Your belly button would be down by your pubic hair at that point, so it is cut out and re-attached higher up (from the inside out) so it is in a normal position.

The scar is usually from hip to hip, and sometimes from pubis to belly button as well (depending on how much skin had to be removed). My surgeon has developed a nice wave incision that he can often get away with that doesn't go up toward the belly button too much.

If you already have C-section scars, those will be cut out, because the new scar will be at the same level. Lots of our patients have had c-sections and do just fine.

The "after" pictures are remarkable, but it is a big operation (takes 3-4 hours, again, depending on pre-op factors).

If you decide to go through with it, good luck. It's an operation that can make a huge difference. I want one, but can't take the time off work!
