Achilles tendonosis- does anyone have it?

Question:
What is the treatment? Is it genetic? If you have this, can you ever run again?

Answers:
Yup, i have had it..

Aggressive physical therapy (massage, electro stim) is the only way to get it healthy again. Once you have that, work on flexibility and on strength too. Also- buy yourself one of those foam rollers and EVERY morning and EVERY night roll out your calves, IT bands, and quads. It is all connected.and tight achilles can turn into plantars faciitis, soleus problems, calf tears, hamstring issues, etc. I have torn both achilles at different times over the years.but both are now healed, I still run (pretty damn fast too), but I use the foam roller RELIGIOUSLY.
Also- you can get these ugly black "boots" to wear while you are sleeping. They keep your feet at 90 degrees to your leg.making it so your achilles doesn't "shrink up" at night from sleeping with your toes pointed. They help me ALOT.when i wake up, i can actually walk and go down stairs immediately with no achilles pain. They cost about $75 per boot and are at hospital supply stores. Good luck!!

i did have it. it does go away. the Dr. gave me a prescription for some anti-inflammatory pills which helped a lot and also do stretching exercises. it does take time but it will go away and you'll be able to run again.
I went to the doctors for this, he said to soak my foot in hot what, as hot as I can handle for about 2 minutes, then right away put it in really cold water for the same time, do that for about 5 times each. It is suppose to shock your tendons. That is what he said to do. I think it works pretty good.
