Running is really great for toning up, getting great legs and your tummy will look fabulous. You need to cut out all sodas, processed foods, typical junk foods, etc. Up your water intake, eat 6 SMALL BALANCED meals a day and do at least an hour + of excerise each day.
Run every day and dont eat unnecessary sugar and fats.
First you have to know your body fat percentage, losing weight especially if 125 lbs is your natural weight can cause problems.
However if you have some fat to spare, I'd recommend I slight change in diet. Eating less sugary foods, or junk foods help a lot, eat smaller meals which have more nutrition more frequently.

You have plenty of time to lose 10 pounds by July 4. Watch what you eat and exercise at least 30 minutes a day. Cut down on junk foods like fast foods, snack cakes, soft drinks. Eat fresh fruits , veggies, rice, chicken, fish.
Running is the fastest way to lose weight but it can be hard on the knees over time. Weight lifting is good, Aerobics, Calisthenics. Do a little research and try what appeals to you.
