How much protein should I be eating a day on a 1200 calorie diet?

Question:
I am not lifting weight, but I do want to begin to strength train and build lean muscle mass, and burn fat. so whats the minimum and maximum of protein i should eat a day?

Answers:
a person should be getting 0.5-1.5g of protein per every pound of body weight a day - so if you weight 160lbs you need at least 80g of protein a day.
You should up your calorie intake if you are starting to become active and exercise. The more you exercise, the more food you need. So I'd say about a 1400 minimum for you. Have between 75-120 grams of protein.
Minimum.. half your body weight in grams, maximum, go 1 pound to 1 gram. I weigh 185, so I eat 150-180 grams a day of protein cuz I lift daily. I never go under 125 grams a day. if you are just lifting moderately you can go with half the number.
