Whats your opinion...?

Question:
On calories?
Do you think it makes a difference on weather their consumed through crap ike junk food, candy, pizza, etc. or through healthier choices like salds and meats, etc. Or do you think there should be some sort of balance or a splurge system? Or like a 50/50 thing. Either way, your going to consume the same amount of calories, but which way do you prefer? Do you really think it matters?

Just wondering, go ahead and share your opinins or how your diet applies or is like this, or just any thoughts on it (:

you have to think of calories as fuel and your body is like an engine. you have to feed it in the proper amounts. if you eat 1200 calories for the day and it is nothing but junk, your body wont get the right amount of fuel. you need to eat protein, grains veggies and fruits. avoid fats and carbs that is nothing but poison even if it is great tasting poison. you will feel and look best if you fuel your body with the right amts of healthy foods.
Calories are a unit of energy yes the more calories you eat the more weight you will gain. Other factors come into play such as fats (saturated and trans). Also the amount of sugar is a large factor.
Well I would much rather get the calories from healthy things because it also gives you nutrience and vitamins which are way better than salty and sugary drinks. Think about it would you rather have 1,000 cals from sugar which makes your blood sugar sky rocket then come crashing down making you more tired, or would you rather eat something healthy and have energy through out the day. And i think splurging every now and then is fine. But too much of anything is bad. Good Luck on the diet and Don't give up
I think if you eat in moderation you can be able to eat anything. I have a younger sister who is not fat, She everything and anything. but she will eat like one slice of pizza to crave her cravings or if it is a Hamburger she will eat an 1/2 of a burger and go back eat on 2-3hrs. But me on the other hand i look at a burger i gained weight.
It is a headache to count calories, measure carbs, fats and sugar for every meal. Weather does makes a difference in burning fats, but no difference in the way food is digested and absorbed in the body.

I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and a hour brisk walk 5 times a week, and I have lost 31lbs and gain better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs for more than a year.

Details such as my experience, meals, recipes, walking as an exercise and to shape the body etc etc, are in my blog.

it really depends on what your goal is. if you just want to lose weight, calories are the most important number. if you want to be healthy also... there is an obvious difference. however if you lack nutrients that your body needs, it will take them from your muscle. when you lose muscle, you do not burn as many calories, so you have to diet harder. (then you'll get sluggish and not feel as well... workouts go down hill... it's all down from here...) if you get the vitamins and minerals you need, then you will lose more fat and maintain a better muscle mass... allowing you to eat a slightly larger amount. exercise will help to maintain the muscle also, but 89 percent of weight management is food, so it is something to definately take into consideration.

if you could be perfect all the time, that would obviously be ideal, but people will not maintain a diet too strict, so the most advised meathod is a 80/80... eat 80 percent good 80 percent of the time. we have to make room for little treats or we'll completely fall off the wagon, and end up in a worse position! sometimes a little extra sugar will even give an energy boost, so it does have it's benefits. when you find yourself in a position where you want something that isn't best, weigh it out in your mind and decide. if you decide it's worth it, then just keep it in calorie check. most times if you are truly hungry, you'd rather go for the large salad with lean meat anyway... because you can get more volume for the calories. also when sugar wears off we often will crash and end up overeating.

there's definately something to be said for balance combined with consistency. the only way to make and maintain changes!
