Scared to eat? (nothing to do with anorexia)?

Question:
is it normal to sometimes be scared to eat in fear i'll eat too much & throw up? I'm not anorexic so don't think or say anything like that, it has nothing to do with my problem. I guess I have a fear of throwing up? what do you guys think...

Answers:
I have heard of this phobia before but couldn't remember what it was called so I Googled it---it's called emetophobia. This link says it's seen as being an anxiety/control issue (not an eating disorder).

Go see a doctor. You may have a digestive syndrom
No, this is not normal. See your doctor, and don't be surprised or offended if he or she sends you to a psychotherapist who specializes in eating disorders.
I don't think you are afraid of weight gain but food
and has something happened in the last two months like did you get sick and you are having bad memories from that
when i was in 5th grade i ate pizza and threw up. after that every time i ate i thought of throwing up. and i would not eat. i would not eat food outside of my home. it i went to a restraunt i was reluctant to drink water even. however it took a few years but i eventually started to eat. the bad thing is, i lost a TON of weight and looked rather unhealthy. it was just that i had a lot of anxiety and did not feel hungry.

you know what. i think its ok but people see you differently because yof your fear. people used to seriously think i was anorexic but i was not at all.

i havent eaten pizza since 5th grade and now im in 12th. haha but whatever. i eat everything else.

im sure you will grow out of it in time.

you are not alone!
