Not really fast. half a mile isn't that much. but running a mile everyday would be helpful and to cool down you should walk for 20 minutes everyday. if you feel up to the challenge, up your running distance a quarter mile every day to get faster results and gain endurance and get in shape. so, today i would run a mile then tomorrow i would run a mile and a quarter and so on (example).
