Definately - weight loss is a simple formula, take less in than you use daily! In the West we eat far too much protein and that usually means too much fat. Make sure the carbs aren't simple i.e. sugar but starch / fibre - wholemeal pasta, wild rice etc. Protein will help you feel fuller longer, just make sure it is from lean sources i.e. turkey, chicken rather than beef mince etc.
yeah. but protien helps you stay full longer than carbs and prevents sugar highs and lows.
Never. Cut your carbs or plan for a much larger coffin.
You'll lose weight, but it probably won't make you any healthier.
yes
Depends on the way your body works. For most people it would be fine but if you have metabolic syndrome or diabetes you may not lose weight in the long run.
One of the ways I learned I was diabetic was when I went on the Ornish diet, whole grains and no fat or animal protein. I lost 10 lbs. weight then gained 25 lbs. while still on the diet. It shocked my body so much that I became a full fledged diabetic, unable to naturally control my blood sugar.
Counting calories IMO does not work for alot of people. Is there a lot of fat around your middle? Then you need to cut the carbs and eat high protein. I guarantee you the pounds will drop off, FIRST around your waist, then off the rest of you, in a reasonably short time.
If you are fat all around (fat face, arms, legs hips etc...) then you might wanna try the low-cal low fat route. In this case just cutting the carbs might not work for you.
If you aren't sure about your body type, try it both ways. Each for a couple of weeks to see which one works best. Good luck!
