Is it O.K. to take ibuprofen after a workout?

Question:
This guy in the weight room claimed that as an anti-inflamatory, Advil would prevent your muscles from recovering effectively, since they need to "inflame" to be repaired. He said he was an EMT/Trainer. Any truth to this nonsense?

Answers:
I have to admit that I've never heard this... although I am not an EMT or personal trainer.
However, I will say that over the counter meds like ibuprofen, Advil, Tylenol, etc... can have a host of negative side effects when taken often, or daily. They can cause high blood pressure as well as damage to your stomach. Look it up on webmd.
I'm just saying that if you have a headache or body aches, an occasional over the counter med is ok. But they are not "cure-alls" to be taken all the time.
