Teen dieting?

I'm about 5' 4" and 170 lbs. I want to drop to at least 135. What should be the limit on calories I eat? Excercise time?

hey there! i am the same as you, same height and weight! and i'm 15 but i don't know your age. i hear you can lose 10 pounds in 10 days by doing aerobics everyday and dieting right. no red meat, eat fish and poultry. light meat, not dark. fill up on fruits and vegetables. and for breafast have fruit, lunch: salad. dinner should consist of fish or poultry with vegetables. do NOT eat alot of salt or candy. you should be fine. : ) if you need anything more answered, just ask.

on weight watchers it is 5,000 calories a day n u workout bout everyday,u should try to run n excerise every day if u want 2 lose weight
You should not eat less than 1200 calories a day because your body will go into "starvation" mode and your metabolism will slow down. You should begin working out 30 minutes a day and slowly increase the amount of time. Vary your workouts so that you don't get bored. Keep in mind that the less you weigh, the less calories you are burning for the same work out (but that will be balanced out because you will be in better aerobic condition and will be able to work out longer). A pound equals 3500 calories. If you can shave off 3500 calories a week from your diet and burn about 500 calories a day with exercise, you can lose a healthy 2 pounds a week. (Any more than that is unhealthy). You might want to join an on-line community like www.my-calorie-counter.com. They calculate how many calories you are consuming and how many your are burning with exercise. It's free and you can ask the community questions. You can chart your progress and just having to enter food info will make you think twice about what you eat. One last thing, expect plateaus. They are normal.
