one tip that i had heard about is that by chewing gum a lot can keep you from losing weight because of the saliva going into your stomach well more then the normal amount anyway... also if you like chocolate like the good milk chocolate. start winning yourself off of ti dark is a bit better for you but too much of anything isn't good. hope this helps
don't skip breakfast. you'll find you will feel energized like eating healthily if you have a healthy breakfast as soon as you wake up. some healthy breakfast options are:
1. one slicewhole grain toast with one poached egg on top
or
2.one slice whole grain cerial/granola with berrys and soy/almond milk
or
3. two scrambled eggs with basil and cherry tomatoes
or
4. sliced apple with 1 table spoon nut butter to dip the slices in
when you get hungry between meals have a piece of fresh fruit. limit your intake of fatty and/or sugary snacks but don't iliminate fat from your diet. stick to healthy fats like nuts, olives/olive oil, and alvocados. just consume them in moderation.
also drink 8 glasses of water a day. thats probably the best thing anyone can do for thier health.
GOOD LUCK! :)
1. Instead of eating three large meals a day, eat six. Four small, two larger. A small meal would be 1-2 servings of veggies/fruits, or one serving of grains or dairy and one veg/fruit serving. A larger meals looks like this: one serving of protein, one serving of grains, and two servings of fruits/veggies.
2. Follow the Canada Food Guide to give your body what it needs to get/stay healthy. http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/fn-an/food-guide-...
3. Drink only water and skim milk (to help get your dairy servings in). No pop, juice, sports/energy drinks, or coffee.
4. Eat whole grains only, whether it be bread, pasta, crackers, or rice. They take longer to digest, so they leave you feeling full for longer. Also, enriched flours are awful for you, period.
5. Eat only lean meat, and preferably (though it's not going to kill you) no red meat at all. Lean turkey and fish are good for weight loss.
6. Replace all your condiments with low fat/calorie versions. A single tablespoon of regular salad dressing can contain more than six grams of fat.
7. Same with junk food. You want ice cream? Get frozen yogurt. Candy? Always get hard candy and eat only one serving a day as dictated by the nutrition info on the package (hard candies last longer and are generally lower in calories/fat). Chocolate? Unless you're the moderation queen, don't bother - there are almost no low fat/calorie chocolates out there.
9. Above all, don't be afraid to mess up. If you cheat for a couple days, it's okay. You're not ruined. Just pick up where you left off and don't worry too much. If you do your best, the weight will eventually come off and you will be feeling great.
The diet, including your exercises, that you are starting must be something that can be part of your lifestyle. You don't want to stay on diets all your life.
I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and a hour brisk walk 5 times a week, and I have lost 31lbs/14kg and gained better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs/49kg for more than a year, with more fruits and complex carbs. It is my lifestyle now. Where ever I go, to buffets, parties or vacations.
Details such as my experience, meals, recipes, foods to buy, reading labels, walking as an exercise and to shape the body etc etc, are in my blog.
