What are some FILIPINO foods that are low in CARBS?
Question:
Answers:
meat & seafood dishes are low carb, like adobo, bistek, sinigang, tilapia, lechon, tocino, kaldereta, & pinakbet (veggies have some carbs, but are packed with nutrients). stay away from anything with noodles, rice, or bread because they have lots of carbs. i think lumpia would be low carb minus the wrapper.
this website is pretty cool. you can look up a particular food for its nutritional content. it doesn't have filipino dishes specifically, but if you know what's in the dish, you can search by ingredient. you can even search fast food.

Try incorporating the Glycaemic Index into your eating plan is surprisingly easy.
Eating a lot of high GI foods can be detrimental to your health because it pushes your body to extremes. This is especially true if you are overweight and sedentary. Switching to eating mainly low GI carbs that slowly trickle glucose into your blood stream keeps your energy levels balanced and means you will feel fuller for longer between meals.
o Low GI diets help people lose and control weight
o Low GI diets increase the body's sensitivity to insulin
o Low GI carbs improve diabetes control
o Low GI carbs reduce the risk of heart disease
o Low GI carbs reduce blood cholesterol levels
o Low GI carbs can help you manage the symptoms of PCOS
o Low GI carbs reduce hunger and keep you fuller for longer
o Low GI carbs prolong physical endurance
o High GI carbs help re-fuel carbohydrate stores after exercise

Very simple. Your food consisting of rice, noodles, sugar, flour are all simple carbs.
A diet high in fibre, protein is low carb.
It is my lifestyle now. Wherever I go, (in different countries), I have no problem identifying low carbs foods. I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and a hour brisk walk 5 times a week, and I have lost 31lbs/14kg and gained better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs/49kg for more than a year, with more fruits and complex carbs.
Details such as my experience, meals, recipes, foods to buy, reading labels, walking as an exercise and to shape the body etc etc, are in my blog.
