How do i keep off cravings for food?

try and control yourself if you want to eat healthier..its gonna be really hard but just try it.
If there was a secret answer for this, I'm sure half of America wouldn't be obese by now. The thing is, you can't completely knock the cravings out, unless you're using cocaine or diet pills. When you're in the mood for something, allow yourself to have it, but only a little. It won't kill you and it is a must, if you don't want to suddenly find yourself after two days "I can't take it anymore" and scarf down that whole box of cookies. Good luck.
Apparantly when you feel hungry, chances are you're actually thirsty so drink a glass of water and then wait 20 minutes. If you're still hungry then eat something.

Are you asking this question because you're overweight and wanting to lose a bit? If so then I strongly recommend weight watchers to you. I've lost just over a stone now, and it's not really a diet that I'm on, more of a healthy eating plan, however no food is a sin! I can still eat the occasional KFC meal, and I can still drink my bottle of wine at the weekend. Half way through it already..oops!!
Always eat breakfast in the morning, even if it means you'll be late to work or school. Eat meals at the same time everyday...but only 3 meals a day & maybe a light snack. Test it out & if you are hungry inbetween meals then try switching times up to make you less hungry...OR do what I do & put yourself down...sometimes when you call yourself fat & stuff you start to get less hungry.
Don't push your mind with the idea that this has to end right now. Watch for which kind of food you usually crave n try to fill the mind with as much knowledge as it will take about the food. Questions such as how is it gonna affect your life in the coming years. With all the knowledge, I believe adjustment shall occur, step by step, not abruptly.
