Answers:
Maybe u r not doing it correctly as right movement of body and breathing(inhaling and exhaling) is very important in order to do it efficiently. So make sure that u r doing it correctly.
I don't know how bad was ur backache but i had similar problems too when i started doing yoga maybe because my body was not used to it but later it vanished and i became more flexible.
But u do consult someone experienced before continuing the yoga.
Good luck
Mostly it's a matter of personal preference. Some women don't want to do Yoga during their period, many don't mind and continue to practice during menses. For women who do choose to practice, it is suggested that they avoid inverted poses, abdominal strengtheners, extended holding of any pose, or energizing breaths (kapalabhati). The issue is that these practices might interfere with the downward flow or cause discomfort.
Also, hopefully you are listening to your body and not overdoing it. Since you have just begun your yoga practice you may feel like you'd like to push yourself pretty far, but normally your body will tell you that you've pushed over the limits if it isn't quite in correlation with your mind when it comes to your practice. Listen to your body, mind, and breath to figure out how far your should push.
And you also are hopefully allowing for enough time to "cool down" in corpse pose or other relaxation poses between poses like child's pose or dogward facing dog or pigeon. If you are doing a lot of forward bending poses, make sure you do just as many backward bending poses to release the tension in your back.
My field is in fashion, as a result many people ask me how they can slim down. My answer is always the same: good diet and exercise. But I found this great product which I think helps a lot in the process. I recommend you check this website
