Do you think that its fair that women ( esp women who are very overweight ) ought to do push ups ?

do you think its fair that a 5'4 200 pound woman shoudl be made to do as many push ups as a slender male? and if the woman is not used to upper body work?
i'm talking about myself. if you say, run 3 miles, i run along with the rest of them. if you want 50 sit ups. i say easy. but imagine a girl lifting 200 pounds off the ground in a push up? do you think thats fair?

Fair that you got alot of weight to lift.well it is not 200 lbs.. But still, how do you plan to burn off the fat. Push ups develop and work the abdominal muscles and muscles burn fat.

If you made yourself overweight, no, you should go through the same crap we do, cause, in essence, were in as much pain as you. We have to lift our weight off the ground, which is fine considering our BMI, so you should be able to do your own body.

If you were born w/ an obesity/excersise problem, I guess not.

Yes, women should do push-ups no matter what their size is. It builds upper body strength.
Now, Whoever said that a women should do as many pushups as a man needs to have their head exam!!
I served in the military 15 years and there are standards for men & women to go by.

It should give you ammunition to the crazy person that is saying this! My company was required to score 70pts in each event. Your push-ups, sit-ups were timed in 2mins.

Pushups are hard. I'm 132 pounds at 5'8 and I still can't do a tonne of pushups. And no, I don't think that it's fair that they force you, but you do have to remember that a good push can sometimes give you the motivation that you need when your energy is running low!
