I am confused! My mother in law eats like a bird but still overwieght?


Question:
My mother in law eats like a bird. She eats less than anyone else I have seen who are slim and skinny...

I feel like a pig whenever she stays at our place...

I am confused, why is that? She is diabetic and has some health issues and has take lots of pills. Do you think this is why?

Answers:
Some medication makes you fat and retain water(bloats you). If she is stressed that may be part of it. Has she had here Thyroid checked?? Also some of the things she has to eat due to being a diabetic may not be the greatest things in the world. (that fake sugar ex. Splenda and sweet and low) Are really bad for you, but they won't tell you that. Your body does not know the difference from good and bad sugar. Good Luck.

She's probably double fisting Twinkies and Pizza Hut when your not around and washing it down with some Pabst Blue Ribbon.
a lot of times people who are overweight never eat in front of other people. They binge when no one is looking. Also, it could be that she used to eat a lot, got overweight, and is now trying to loose the weight.
actually, the statment "eats like a bird "is incorrect. birds actually eat alottttttttt of food, but anyways. maby your mother in law is not eating alot but when she does, shes not eating healthy foods?
it may be that just because someone is not eating a lot, does not mean that what they are eating is healthy or low calorie/not fattening.

but she should call her doc.

build muscle. it'll take your extra fat.(fat that didn't get burn)
i don't exactly remember how.

drink lots of water, eat nuts and raisins to increase metabolism
workout.
eat healthy.
eat slowly, because it takes awhile for food to digest, so
it takes awhile to be full after eating.

eating slowly will allow you to know when you're full to eat less.

don't sit in front of the tv while eating.

do aerobic exercises

do 2 30min exercises then have a 20 min break you'll lose more wight than not taking breaks at all

starving will get you skinnier but at the end of it when you eat normally again your body will be saving it,
and you'll gain weight faster
like bears saving their food for the winter.

people have different metabolisms.
Some people, myself for example, can eat as much as they want (and believe me I do) without gaining any weight. Others can eat hardly anything and puff up like a blow fish. It's all to do with how the inner workings of the body individually deal with nutrients, fats .etc.
