Why is cheap to be fat obese and unhealthy But expensive to be healthy?
Question:
Answers:
People buy more unhealthy food. Since there is a higher demand, companies can afford to drop their prices, where as not too many people buy fresh organic fruit, veggies, eggs, etc., so these items cost more in order for the companies to produce a profit. It is unfair to those of us who don't want the fast-food lifestyle, but until America gets healthy, the prices will be high.
What you can do to save money is go to a farmer's market. They have fresh produce at good prices and you are supporting your local economy, so it's win/win.
You can also grow your own fruit and veggies. If space is an issue (as in no yard, live in an apartment, etc) you can grow most veggies and spices in pots. Just place them in a sunny window and you will have some great food in no time. Just be sure to give them some plant food, as there isn't very much in potting soil. Home made compost (such as peels, egg shells, etc) will do the trick, but it may smell a bit.
These tips can help cut the cost of your next grocery bill. I hope this helps! And good for you for being healthy in a very unhealthy world!
It is very hard to keep food without preservatives fresh for long periods of time.
Also healthy food is more demanding to make. It's just like better quality things take more effort.
b.c the junk food has no nutritional valu and literally is slowly killing ppl so its cheap as heck
the foods that are actually going to help u be healthy and live longer need to be prepared and were grown differently (all naturally/organic) so the price just costs more
i say its worth it tho
my life is worth a couple extra dollars to get the healthy stuffff
i agree with you. i wanna start eating healthy but it costs so much more! maybe its worth it though in the end...im not sure.
organic food is a scam.. they just taake longer to get the same product.. you use different techniques to get the same result. its a falacy that healthy is more expensive. you can go broke eating fast food evryday and very quickly
most lower income people eat those cheap dollar burgers. these are loaded with preservatives, fat and fried to make u feel good and satisfied. regular soda itself contains so much sugar.
if u go to a market, it is so much cheaper to buy canned food than it is to buy fresh fruits and vegetables.
also, most americans eat in their car at least twice a week. what do they eat? go figure.
lower incomed people are also more stressed by doing hectic jobs so they become emotional eaters.
u can easily guess they watch tv while eating that bag of doritos and potato chips.
u must have seen some lower middle class people driving a beat up car, tired look and a cigarette in one hand.
why do u think they have genetically modified corn? so that it gets maximum yield, quick growth and bigger size so doritos for us are way cheaper that fresh fruits and vegetables.
what u are doing is great. since organic produce does not have pesticides added to them, they produce more of these healthy chemicals for us that is to repel natural predatos and gain nutrients deep from the ground on their own.
may i just suggest one bad thing about organic stuff?
some of this stuff is grown in countries with unsanitary conditions. so be careful. eat local organic.
