Is ice tea fattening?
Question:
Answers:
No- there is no fat in iced tea, but depending on what brand you buy, there can be a fair bit of sugar. You can switch to a sugar free brand if this bothers you, or if you are like me and hate the taste of that fake sugar, you can brew your own iced tea. Then you will have all sorts of flavors to chose from and can control the amount of sugar. It is very easy.
I boil 4 cups of water with about half a cup (or less which you would obviously want if calories are a concern) of sugar stirred in. Once it is boiling, remove it from heat and throw in 4-5 teabags. Let it sit (steep) for 3 minutes (plus or minus, depending on the strength you like) and then pour into a large pitcher. Add four cups of cold water and stir. I usually then add a couple tablespoons of lemon juice and then throw in some thin slices of lemon into the pitcher.
I hope this helps!
iced teas that contain a lot of sugar could be fattening, try crystal lite iced tea which is sugar free and tastes good.
as long as you aren't drinking sweet tea
Only if you put sugar in it! Old Fashioned Sweet Tea is made with simple syrup, that's probably what they were talking about...
Sweet tea has tons of sugar in it.
Only if you put sugar in it or buy the flavored stuff
The tea itself is not at all and tea is a great antioxidant. However it depends what is added to the tea. Is sugar, corn syrup or another high calorie sweetner added?
