I'm 18. Weight Lifting?

Question:
Hey,
I'm 18 (boy) and I've taken up weight lifting etc. At the moment I'm lifting about half me body weight, well just under, bout 30 kg with a bar bell and about 10 with each dumbell. Also do pressups and stuff. My problem is sit ups. I have what I'm prtetty sure is a nice six pack coming through, but I've heard that dopin situps actually messes up your back faster than it helps abs. Is there a way to prevent damage?

Btw. I provided all the other information so you can point out faults etc.

thx!

Answers:
Sorry, but I'm not sure what exactly a dopin sit up is. However, any exercise done incorrectly can cause damage. If you know anyone that knows a lot about exercising or fitness...I would have them watch you do it to make sure you have the proper form.

I also wanted to say...that your six pack does not show up because you keep building muscle in your stomach (even though this needs to be done). What is keeping the muscles from coming through and showing is a thin layer of fat under your skin. I wanted to suggest that if you're not already, to add cardio training to your work out as well, because that is what is going to melt the thin layer of fat on your stomach and make your six pack show through.

Good luck!
