Can wearing a corset help you to lose wieght?

I just had a baby a few months ago and my bfs mom gave me a corset that she sells, its in spanish but im pretty sure its called "firm forever" you're supposed to wear it 8 hours a day and take these detox pills every night 3 hours after dinner... she has lost A LOT of wieght but has also watched her eating and drinks 8 glasses of water a day. what do you think? oh and might i add this thing is soo tight it hurts my ribs =/

1) if it hurting you then you should stop immediately.

2) weight loss from a corset...yes and no
the corset does not "make" you lose weight
BUT
wearing a proper made and proper fitted corset snug will make you feel fuller faster, thus cutting your intake, thus when you burn more calories than you intake, you drop pounds and inches.

There are groups here on Yahoo who give good advice, groups who can help you sew your own corsets, groups who will support you through wearing your corset. But do make the choice of wearing a corset YOUR decision not one that someone makes for you.

Corsets help you to not breathe. Also, they press against your stomach. It would be very uncomfortable to overeat. Just wearing a corset would make you not want to eat much.
i went to a store called 'just for babies' and they sell these wraps that you can wear around your tummy to help you get a figure back. idk if it helps you lose weight. i've heard that they do wonders. i guess you just gotta try it out. you're the one wearing it so it's up to you...and it's YOUR body too.
I've seen the ad for that thing and it doesn't look too safe. The best advice would probably come from a doctor. I think that if it hurts your ribs, you're probably better off with trying diet and exercise instead.
Of course not! No corset will cause a person to lose weight. Don't wear it. It can cause injury and doesn't allow for adequate breathing.
i don't think the corset helps you lose weight it makes you look like you did, and your friends mom is choosing to eat better and healthier which is maybe why she lost weight.plus if the corset hurts you you should probably not wear it you will look good anyway.
Not he corset and pills aren't doing anything. What happened is that your boyfriend's mom started to watch her food intake, as you said, and lost weight because of that, not the corset. The only way to actually lose fat is to burn it off by doing exericse. There is no "easy" solution.
It has nothing to do with losing weight, it is just pushing in the fat like a girdle. If it hurts, it's because it is too tight and it will affect your ability to breathe and you may even faint.
