Getting a personal trainer?

Question:
I really want to get more in shape, and Im thinking of getting a personal trainer. I already know the basics in terms of diet, exercise, etc, but I feel like I need someone to pump me up, motivate me, make sure I stay on track, and make the most of my workout hours.

Have you guys had a personal trainer, do you think they're worth the money? How many sessions should I get, in order to see results and make the most of them?
Anyone had a good experience with them?

Answers:
im 14 and i started up with a personal trainer this year January. i continued until june, once a week for a half an hour. I thought about it and i really didn't see a difference by just doing it once a week, so what i did was i kept it at once a week, then i used what he did with me by myself at the gym and at home. I did the same exercises by myself 2 times a week then went in once a week. that is what i thought made a difference... now i just stopped the personal trainer and i have enough knowledge about exercising that he taught me to just do it 3 times a week by myself. Also about the need of someone to pump you up. it doesn't work.. if you dont want to lose the weight you dont want to... you will complain and complain. you have to build up the motivation and really want to get toned for it to work. I would recommmend going for about 5 classes learning what to do, then keeping it up your self 3 times or more a week
If you have the money then do it... personal trainers are salesmen that are taught a trade over a couple months. They provide a service and may ask for tons of cash...
Well I met some wonderful personal trainers at a Powerhouse Gym in my hometown while I was promoting (PM), and I watched them work their clients out and I heard them giving advice on diets for the things that the clients were trying to achieve, and I think they're great. I've never had one, but Im kind of a health nut, and the things they were doing and saying were things I would agree with from experience in maintaing my health and physique. So go for and start off with a small commitment so you can test it out to see if you like it. Hope this helps ;)
Yes,most personal trainers are worth the money.Their job is to show you proper exercise technique, help with your nutrition, motivate you, show you a variety of exercises, they should push you to do things that you would not do on your own, but not push you too much. You should work out regularly(2-3times a week)for 6-8 weeks to assess the results that you are getting. This will also be plenty of time to see how you and your trainer are getting along. Are they listening to you and adjusting your workout if you tell them that you are tired or hurt or don't feel good? They should be able to give you a variety of workout options-machines,free weight, bodyweight, resistance bands, etc.
Good Luck
