100% fat free diet. Please help!?
Question:
find out soon what my question is! :p
These last few weeks I've been watching what I eat
and I've been avoiding (successfully) everything and
anything that contains fat. I'm following a 100% natural
diet (vegies, and fruits) prepared in different ways
without using any type of fats. I've been losing weight
so that's good!
I've been reading about anorexia and i've read that
sometimes liver/heart, and other type of organ failure
is caused because people who suffer eating disorders
do not eat any type of fats; and since the body needs
some fats to burn after they are done with carbs, they
use the little fat in our heart/liver and other organs to
burn it causing liver/heart failure.
So the REAL question is, if i go on a 100% fat FREE
diet (vegies, fruits) will my liver/heart, or other organs
fail to function properly and then ultimately cause
my death?
Answers:
You cannot survive without a certain amount of fats in your diet. Your body needs fats to function. All of your nerves are covered with a layer of fat, fat cushions your organs, Vitamins A,D,E, & K are fat soluble meaning without fat in your diet, your body cannot metabolize these vitamins. This could lead to a vitamin deficiency and serious health problems.
Cutting out all fats is an ineffective and dangerous way to try and lose weight. In the 80's, everyone thought low fat diets were the way to go to lose weight. Well, what happened? Obesity rates skyrocketed at the same time everyone cut fats out of their diet.
Eat sensibly, take in fewer calories than you burn, and exercise regularly. That will work every time. Fad diets never work for the long term.
Hope that helps,

a healthy diet consist of fats -in moderation. never eliminate an entire food group. visit your doctor and seek nutritional counseling.
water...
thats about it really...
even veggies and fruit have fat in them, but you should eat some beans or something
Yeah you'll seriously be dead in a month if you go on a 100% fat free diet. Your body still needs some fat, obviously you don't want excess fat, but fat is needed for survival. Even if you had a 90% fat free diet, you would be sick pretty regularly, you'll be clammy and light headed, and you would find it hard to concentrate, cause your body needs fat.
So yeah, you'll die of you try that. Go for an 80% fat free diet, plus low carbs. That would be enough to keep you healthy but not enough to gain any significant weight. Be smart about loosing weight, trying these insane diets can only hurt you in the long run.
Yes, you will harm your body by not feeding it what it needs, including damaging your internal organs.
Very low fat diets (less than 20% calories from fat) may not meet the minimum requirement for essential fatty acids.
Choose a diet lower in saturated fat and higher in monounsaturated fats.Keep in mind, unsaturated fats should be eaten in moderation, but are preferred over saturated fat.
Nutrition experts recommend up to 30% of daily calories should come from fat. There's a conversion chart on the website I've linked below.
So, aim for minimum 20% calories from fat, and maximum 30% calories from fat.
With no fat in your diet, I'd imagine you've been experiencing some intense hunger. Proper amounts of fat and protein will help curb those hunger pangs, and will keep you healthy. Good luck!
We need body fat for the normal functioning of our body and organs. For women, it is important for reproduction.
Eat only healthy fats. You will not gain weight. In fact I managed to lose weight on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and a hour brisk walk 5 times a week,. I have lost 31lbs/14kg and gained better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs/49kg for more than a year, with more fruits and complex carbs.
Details such as my experience, meals, recipes, foods to buy, reading labels, walking as an exercise and to shape the body etc etc, are in my blog.
