How many extra WeightWatchers points are you allowed when breastfeeding?
Question:
hope you can help - thanks
Answers:
DO NOT diet whist breastfeeding. An average BF mum needs between 350 and 500 calories a day. If you eat a sensible diet, you will lose weight naturally whilst feeding your baby. Dieting during breastfeeding may affect the calorific content of your milk, which in turn will affect your baby. Wait a few months longer, at least until she's weaned before starting your diet, that way, even if you are still BF, she will get most of her calories and nutrients from her other foods. I don't care what organisations such as WW say about dieting and BF, at the end of the day, even though they prescribe good diets, your money is their prime concern, not the health of your baby.
never diet while breastfeeding. increase your calories, drink lots of water, and continue your exercise program.
10 points according to The WW Getting started booklet. That's for someone less than 150 pounds, so 30 points is your target.

Weight-Loss Recommendations for New Moms
by The Weight Watchers Research Department
When to Start
Before beginning a weight-loss program, it is important to get physician approval. It is generally recommended that breastfeeding women wait for 6-8 weeks before attempting active weight loss, as the body needs time to recover from childbirth and establish a good milk supply.
Recommendations for Weight Loss
According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) a weight loss of 1 pound a week while breastfeeding is safe and does not negatively affect infant growth. A weight loss of 1 to 2 pounds a week is recommended for new moms who are not nursing.
It is especially important when breastfeeding to make wise food choices and eat a wide variety of healthy foods to ensure adequate amounts of vitamins and minerals in breast milk. Additionally, most physicians recommend taking a prenatal vitamin while nursing and the American Medical Association recommends taking a multivitamin when following a weight-loss program.
All breastfeeding women need an extra 500 calories per day [approximately 10 points] to make enough breast milk in order to provide an adequate milk supply. Protein needs are also increased from 46 to 71 grams (the equivalent to 3 servings of protein-rich foods) a day when breastfeeding to help preserve the lean body mass needed to help maintain a good milk supply.
Recommendations for Physical Activity
Similar to starting any weight-loss program, physician approval should be sought before beginning regular physical activity. Research has found that both high and moderate-intensity activity does not affect a mother's ability to breastfeed and can help with losing weight and maintaining weight loss.

U can follow the routine given below and it will take care of all contingencies.
Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%.
Chew each morsel at least 32 times. Do not touch articles of food or the cutlery in between. This will activate ur body to generate strong signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.
Take light exercises and brisk walks (minimum 20 min duration) regularly preferably twice a day.
U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry. It is however to be noted that one cannot change the shape or size of different parts of the body.
