Does anyone have any ideas on how to pep up and make the most out of a treadmill workout?
Question:
Answers:
In addition to listening to up-beat music you can try these techniques. Just be careful.
1. Turn around and try the treadmill backwards. It works a different muscle group. This should be done when the treadmill is level (not on an incline)
2. Turn to your right and side-step for a portion of your workout. This helps to work your ab/adductors.
3. Turn to your left and side-step for a portion of your workout.
4. Use visualization. Picture yourself on an open road during the autumn when all of the trees are changing. Picture yourself in a marathon. Even try to picture yourself running for your life (that should get your heartrate up!).
5. Try to solve your unsolved problems from the day before.
6. Give yourself brainteasers to figure out during your workout.
Hope these help!

use the maximum incline you can get
just keep on doing it every day for at least 30 minutes
Im sure you have an Ipod or cd player right? Just get you favorite music that motivates you and choose different programs, like hill, fat burn, aeorbic.
i listen to my favorite music it always gets me going.
I have a "cardio" playlist that I keep adding fast-paced and upbeat songs to. This keeps my mind going, so my body does not slow down.
Gradually increase the incline, hold 2 lb. dumbbells.
You can progress depends on health/fitness status and indiviual goals. It is reasonable to increase duration of activity initially. Try doing 20 to 60 minutes of continuous activity with elavation at intervals (if your machine has one).
30 minutes isn't very long. To get any significant benefit in that short a time, you're going to have to go pretty much at race pace the whole time.
try using max incline and sprinting beats jogging and walking... After every 5 mins increase your speed to 14 or 18 and sprint for a min or two. Need more exercise tips u can always contact me on Y! IM .
Use at least a 1-1.5% incline to help simulate running outdoors. Any less and the treadmill basically helps you run. Also, take a break from it. Actually go outside and run (or walk) maybe once a week or so. If you are just begining you should definately use a slower pace, you should be able to carry on a conversation with someone. After a while you will notice that the distance you travel over your 30 min will increase. Also, very your times and intensities over the week. Long and slow (about an hour) to short and quick (2-3 miles as quick as you can). Make suer to rest. working out is hard and you don't want to hurt yourself.
