If I took a week's break from working out, how long will it take to regain my fitness level?
Question:
Answers:
The degree to which cardiovascular fitness declines during a period of de-training depends upon what kind of shape you were in to begin with. Individuals who are extremely fit, such as highly trained athletes, experience a rapid drop in fitness during the first three weeks of detraining, which then tapers off.
A significant level of fitness - higher than that of an untrained person - is retained for about 12 weeks. Individuals with low-to-moderate fitness levels show little change in cardiovascular fitness within the first few weeks, but their ability rapidly declines in the weeks immediately following.
In other words, taking a week off won't hurt your fitness level.
Depends on how much calories you intake during that break!
first of all, when you work out, try to run one day, lift the next, and ab work the next, give yourself a day off, then repeat. It's the healthiest way to get stronger, 'cause if you do all three every day, you'll get tired and will want to go on break. You damage your body too much when you do all three.
The body gets stronger by doing light damage to muscles whenever you do anything - they repair and get stronger.
Make sure to stretch every day before you work out and after you work out.
Oh, and no time at all. You can get right back into your groove after a week of healthful eating and not exercising, but anything more will be a bit too much
