Weight Watchers and Personal Attention?
Question:
I am in dire need of loosing atleast 100lbs and am worried that If I join, I'll just be paying for a weightloss internet program. I really need someone, who is knowlegable and has been there to work with me based on my needs. Do the WW leaders do this at each location?
I ask because I went to a WW last week 30 min before a meeting (for registration) and there were atleast 20 women in a small room weighing themselves out in the open then going into a room for the meeting. If I join, I want to know that I'll be getting personal attention.
Thanks for any information or expieriences!

I am doing weight watchers and they answer any questions you want if you do the one where you go in... I think that going in is better, makes you want to loose more because you know you have to weigh in... if you stay for the meetings they answer any questions and you learn new recipes and tips and such. so I think you should join, its good and working good for me I've lost a lot of weight in just three weeks...
oh and they only really sit down with you personally if you really ask, other than that they won't just sit down with everyone, but you could ask if you really need it..
and for the whole 20 people in one meeting, i think thats all in where you go, you could try going to a different meeting, i've been to two different meeting places and one had like 5 people in it and the other had like also 40, so they vary in the places and times...
You don't really get personal attention at a WW meeting. You are instructed in a classroom setting, with everyone sharing what they wish. Some people need to talk more then others, and there's really only one or two instructors. Can you imagine each of those 20 people needing personal attention? It would take hours and hours to have a meeting. BUT, if you need to learn how to eat, and need to have someone to hold you accountable, WW meetings are great. I guess that's what being weighed in front of other people is all about. There are some WW meeting places that have a special meeting for folks who need to loose 50 pounds and over. That way you aren't mixed in with some who just need to drop 15 or 20 pounds and have no idea what it's like to be 100 pounds overweight. WW is and can be very expensive each week. (You might want to check into a personal trainer who has had clients that have that amount of weight to loose). WW can be very helpful if you put your whole heart into following it, and don't mind that you have to share the personal attention with others.
It sounds like you have a bit of anxiety about the weigh in process so let me help you there first. Yes, people line up to weigh in, but the person weighing you never announces to the world what you weigh. They record it on your card. They may say you've lost x, or you've gained x, but if you ask them not to they won't. No one other than the weigher should see the scale readout. If this isn't happening at the meeting you attended, shop around for a different one if you live in an area where there is more than one meeting.
As to personal attention, if you want it and ask for it the leader will give you some individual attention either before or after the meeting (it just depends on if the leader is also assisting with the weigh in process). They aren't going to come to you and schedule one on one time - it's up to you to ask for it if you want it. Some people never want or need it, they get what they need from the weekly meetings. You are always free to ask any question during the meeting you feel would be of interest to the general group (or something you don't mind others hearing you ask). Most leaders like group interaction and really don't like just delivering a lecture.
If you really want one on one personal coaching. week in and week out, for your entire weight loss journey you should expect to pay a lot more than the $10 to $15 weekly fee you would pay Weight Watchers.
The program does work, if you are willing to work the program.
