What is the best way to start exercising?

Question:
Currently I do no exercise what so ever., though I have purchaed an ab shark from thane direct (proberly a waste of money). I have a bike which has hardly ever been used (but I live in a fairly hilly area, that's why I've no continued with it. I don't want to join a gym as I am very self-conscious about my weight (204lbs @ 5ft 7) I want to try exercising in my home but have no idea where to start.

Answers:
Set a time and keep the appointment with yourself to exercise.

Do it religiously.

Walking is a very good way to start. You said it is hilly, then that should add resistance to the walk and that is good.

Start slow and work up. If you over do it the first time, then you will want to quit.

I know a lot of people who have lost weight and got fit just by walking. If later on you need more challenge, then you can pick an exercise routine that will increase the workout.

Hey, good luck with that!

g-day!
dance dance dance. that is an exercise and you have fun doing it.
treadmills are a very useful investment. for maybe 30-45 minutes each day and eating healthy, you might feel better and possibly feel less conscious about your weight. you could always listen to the radio, read, or talk on the phone while you're running/walking, so that it doesn't feel so boring.
start..that is the simplest thing to overcome.stop dreaming about how or why or when, or with who.start doing it, just do it, and as Nike commercial goes Just Do It!!,

if you need a how much then start out at a pace or difficulty that will permit you to do the next day as well...now get off the computer and do it.
Everyone at the gyms I've been to was out of shape, which of course is why they joined! Get some exercise videos or exercise equipment.
Dear Friend,
Good. You have decided to start exercising. But exercise alone will not reduce your weight or shape. Diet and Exercise is the royal route for success. Wish you goodluck. I suggest two sites below for your help.
start out slow and make sure to strecth a lot. go to self.com they can help you out since youre a beginner. good luck
Walking. I know it sounds so simple but the last time I started to get back into shape all I did was walk 30 - 40 minutes five days a week and in two weeks my waist was already shrinking ( I am 5'2" and at the time weighed 250!) If you don't want to go outside just step in place and from side to side while watching tv. You could also check into Leslie Sansone's videos and books. I used those as well!! Good luck!
Well, to do it at home on your own won't happen. You will get bored quickly. Lose weight. Don't drive. Walk and run. It took you some time to put the weight on, it is gonna take some time(probaboy double) to burn it off because you still are eating.
Eat self prepared meals made from raw ingredients (veges from the vege isle, meat from the meat counter) no sauces to jazz it up, no nothing from the middle isles. Keep away from sweets and bakery goodies. Think about everything that you eat "what is in this and how was it cooked" Avoid sugar and fat"cooked in boiling oil is cooked in fat" Potato chips are cooked in fat. French fries the same. l Stay away from restaurant food.and prepackaged, prepared instant meals.
Do it the hard way.
You will notice that rich people are not fat. Buy higher priced meat and you won't eat so much of it either compared to economy pack of hamburger.
Always ask yourself "what could I be doing besides sitting here watching TV or on the computer(same as a TV).
"Doing" means burning up calories.
And DON'T reward yourself with a treat when you did go and do something good. That is like a smoker saying...I went 2 days without a cigarette. I will celebrate by smoking a pack today.

You got to be tough on yourself, it is so easy to fall down here.
Try buying gym balls, elastic band or dumbells for muscular fitness, they are the most affordable indoor exercsing equipments. One set of 8-12 repetitions of each exercise should be performed to volitional fatigue and should be performed 2 times a week and try different exercise for each muscle group. However if you want to exercise on your cardiorespiratory, you dont really need a treadmill, what you can do is run, swim or jog. Its the most inexpensive exercise ever. All you need is to exercise 2-3 times a week as a start and 20 to 60 minutes of continuous activity. Once you get the hang of it you can try to progress to 3 to 5 times a week depends on your health/fitness status. Have a medical check-up before doing any vigorous activity and warm-up and cool-downs before and after each exercise.
Here is a good website that covers nutrition & working out:

I will say that ab gadgets will get you nowhere. This site explains that.
