An easy way to burn fat is to work on your cardio excercises to jumpstart your metabolism. I am an athlete too, so sometimes I slack off in my off season. Try excercise tapes or aerobics classes. If those aren't available to you, try a treadmill and even some of the excercises you do for softball. To tone fat on the stomach, try crunches--NOT SITUPS. Situps don't work nearly as many muscles as crunches do, and even crunches don't work your entire abdominal muscle region. There are various excercise equipments, but you can try side bends (just stand straight and lean sideways in reps of 3 changing sides every 4 reps), crunches, and what I like to call "mime ups". Lay on the floor in the sit-up position and instead of just crunching you pretend there is a rope there and pull yourself up the rope.

The best way to get rid of fat is cardiovascular exercise - aerobics, running, cycling, dancing etc.
Also good to stick to a low calorie diet but the more exercise you do, the faster your metabolism will get and the more food you can eat.
Squats and lunges will be good for muscle tone but the cardio is what will really do it.

By eating less carbs and exercises as much as possible.Go on the net and look for excesses that would help you.
Lots of walking everyday, buy skipping rope and go running sometimes as well.

Skip meals. Eat 2 times per day than 3 times per day
Dont eat until you're full
Eat fruits at night if your hungry.
