Binge eating?

Question:
is binge eating considered an eating disorder?

Answers:
it sure is!

Although it has only recently been recognized as a distinct condition, binge eating disorder is probably the most common eating disorder. Most people with binge eating disorder are obese (more than 20 percent above a healthy body weight), but normal-weight people also can be affected. Binge eating disorder probably affects 2 percent of all adults, or about 1 million to 2 million Americans. Among mildly obese people in self-help or commercial weight loss programs, 10 to 15 percent have binge eating disorder. The disorder is even more common in those with severe obesity.

Binge eating disorder is slightly more common in women, with three women affected for every two men. The disorder affects blacks as often as whites; its frequency in other ethnic groups is not yet known. Obese people with binge eating disorder often became overweight at a younger age than those without the disorder. They also may have more frequent episodes of losing and regaining weight (yo-yo dieting).
good luck
yes it is. binge eating is a form of eating disorder, and you can get a binge eating addiction, meaning you cant stop eating, then throwing it all back up
Yes very much so. I would not do it because you can cause your body alot of pain and mess up your metabolism, believe me.
Not exactly. But still it's not healthy. Never do it.
no but the vomiting you force yourself to do after is.
yes get help b-4 its 2 late!
Yes.
unless u have the munchies i would say yes.usually binging is a persons way of trying 2 bury an uncomfortable emotion.
oh my god i used to and didn't tell any body but it made me feel better and it is considered an eating disorder and PLEASE DO TRY IT AND STOP IF YOU'VE STARTED
It is an eating disorder just like being anorexic. It should get immediate attention before it become worse.
um daaaaarrrr
of course!
YES it is, and don't ever let someone tell you it isn't. It's just as serious as annorexia and bullemia.
yeah
that's gross
i don't even eat.
Most definitely and it can be even more dangerous than you think. I went through the same thing while trying to loose weight and it was horrible. How did I overcome it?
I took a nutrition class at my local college, learned how to eat and lost the weight and kept it off without damaging my body. See, your body can’t tell you I need vitamin A or I need calcium; lack of vitamins or minerals with reflect as hunger so if you eat empty calories (junk food) no matter how much you eat you are always going to be hungry and as a result you’ll end up overeating. On the contrary if you give your body what it needs you’ll feel satisfied every time you eat and you won’t overeat.

Try to seek the help of a nutritionist or if it is possible take a course in nutrition like I did and that should help you get started. Find some information on the link below containing alternatives to a healthy cure.

I hope this helps…Best of luck & God Bless!

pot heads do it all the time...
I would think binge eating is something left over from primal times. when a hunter gather would only get a kill once a week or so. so they binged/stored energy, because when they would get the next kill was unknown. So people get stressed out worrying about their future and binge.

to purge afterward would be a modern concept to stay in a certain kind of shape established by peers/self.
(If we didn't know food made us fat, there would no reason to purge)

Since food is always available to people with money, it is crazy for them to binge. but then life is stressful for everyone.

sometimes our primal instinct takes over, then our social appearance ego uses the intellect to come up with a solution that isn't all that great in the long run
Ummm not really, it's just considered standard for stupid self-conscious fat chicks who can't put the fork down long enough to know a such eating disorder exists
