What are the best rowing machines?

Question:
Magnetic, air resistant, water or other. I can really only afford to pay around £200. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
thanks,

Magnetic rowers are the cheapest. They use a magnet as a form of resistance, which can be increased in steps (usually by turning a dial). One dissadvantage to cheap magnetic rowers is that they have touching parts in the drum, which over time get worn down and need to be replaced. This is not too much of a problem though as they are very cheap to replace and usually last a couple of years.

Air resistant rowers are more expensive than magnetic ones and generally provide a smoother action. The resistance is variable but rather than manually increasing the resistance using a dial air resistant rowers work so that the harder you pull the harder the resistance. This provides a more realistic action.

Water rowers are most like the real thing due to the fact that they use water for resistance. They are also quieter than the other two types but are much more expensive.

For £200 you will be able to afford a magnetic rower. Assuming that you are not training for high level competition then there is nothing wrong with this type of rower. I have used both magnetic and air resistant rowers and although I prefer air resistance a magnetic rower is perfectly fine for general fitness training and I actually have a cheap magnetic rower for this purpose.
I guess saying a boat is not a great deal of real world help is it.

I would have thought that for 200 quid you will be lucky to get much of a choice at all.
