How can I stop this?


Question:
Since my last physical a year ago I gained seven pounds. I'm afraid I have an eating disorder of bingeing. I eat and eat and eat and I cant stop when I get started. Sometimes when I'm home watching my sister I'll eat everything I can find and usually it's unhealthy food. How can I control this bingeing?

if you're unsure, you can search eating disorder tests or something online and see if it's a possibility. But by the sound of gaining nly 7 lbs in an entire year, I would guess your eating habits might be due to being bored or nervous or something. Usually if you're bored or not really active, your appetite seems to increase and you crave more.

As for controlling it, you would probably find a variety of methods by googling it, etc. and try things out. Also look at controlling cravings. If you just stop for a minute to think everything over, you can probably at least reduce the amount you eat. Try counting to 100, drink water, eat something healthy instead, don't eat in front of the tv or pc (you eat more and dont realize it when you do this), there's plenty of options out there. Experiment!
The doctor might be able to give you something so you don't feel as hungry. You can also try fiber because that would increase your metabolism and make you less hungrier for longer.
It's not about the food- it's about the emotional reasons you do it. Getting some counseling will help you understand what you're feeling and how to deal with it without binge eating.

You could come up with a healthy amount of calories per day to eat, and then write down all of your daily food intake and add up the calories. This way you will always have it in your head when you go to eat something that you want to stay below your target for calories. Just making a commitment to yourself to eat healthier can make a big difference.. Just don't be unrealistic and don't torture yourself. Hopefully you do like some healthy foods too!
seven pounds is not that bad but i would say excessive it makes you less Hungary if you eat slowly Ur not as Hungary eating fast dose that .but better safe than sorry get checked out by a doctor .it is OK if Ur around 12 though i eat when i depressed or Bord some times get Ur mind off of food
