What is considered bad cholesterol? i think i have like 160-190 i cant remember exaclty?

I'm 40, so our health situations are very different. Still, here's what my doctor wants my cholesterol targets to be:
Total Cholesterol - under 180
LDL Cholesterol (the bad one) - under 100
HDL Cholesterol (the good one) - above 40
Generally, if your ratio of Total Cholesterol to your HDL Cholesterol is 4.0 or more, that's considered good.
At 17, I don't know what the recommended cholesterol numbers should be.
As for diet - avoid foods high in LDL cholesterol - like red meat (especially beef) and high fat dairy (whole milk, ice cream, butter). Eat more chicken and fish. Use margarine instead of butter. Use skim or lowfat milk.
