How much do you eat a day to lose weight?
Question:
Answers:
One of the keys to losing the weight is eating enough. You must get your body out of "Starvation Mode".
When your body is in "Starvation Mode", you are hungry and don't eat. Your body has no idea when it is going to get its next meal so it stores energy in fat cells.
When you get hungry between meals, eat a sensible snack: any raw fruit or vegitable. You can have the canned ones; but they lack a lot of the vital nutrients that your body needs due to the cooking / canning process. If you do go "canned" rinse everything before you eat. The reason is the added sugars in the 'lite' syrup in the fruits and also the added sodium in the veggies.
Make sure that all three of your regular meals are well balanced meals and that you are taking in good protiens and fiber and not too much sugars and fats.
It will take a little while for your body to adjust and come out of the "Starvation Mode"; but give it the time. You'll be glad you did.
I have literally turned into an anorexic 14 yr old... all I've been eating is a cup of fruit with a glass of Ensure and a Special K Bar each day.

one thing you can eat that helps lose weight I find is, 1% cottage cheese. Only about 80 calories in 1/2 cup and has tons fo protein and calcium.
I am 26 yrs old and am only 5'2" (105 lbs) - when I want to drop a couple pounds I eat about 1,000 cals a day and try walk or bike every evening. Remember that 3500 unused calories add up to 1 pound of fat. The calories you need in a day depend on your age, how tall you are and how acitve you are. (I think I burn about 1500 - 1700 in an average day so if I only eat 1,000 and burn 200 extra with exercise, I'll lose 1 lb every 4-7 days.)
I've been eating fewer calories and doing light exercises for about 2 weeks now and have lost about 4 pounds. good luck!
There is no easy answer to this question. there are many web pages that will provide you with diet suggestions. The amount you should eat will depend on your current weight and height, sex, age and amount of physical activity.
While most nutritionists like the simple explanation that calories in must be less than calories out, those experienced in weight loss will tell you it is much more complicated than that.
The simplest way to lose weight is to increase the amount of physical activity you do (replace driving or riding in a car with walking or cycling, go swimming, take the stairs not the elevator) and eliminate junk food - much less fat and sugar, more fresh fruit and vegetables, more wholegrain products. No donuts, no McDs, no Kentucky Fried anything - and no pop!
