Most people in the gym probably feel the same way, If I had a dime for every time I heard that, I'd be rich.

You may want to focus on your health more so than your weight. You need to know that sugar, junk food, and fast food are not your friends when it come to being fit or healthy(being fit means you will be at your ideal weight). Too much of these thing will lead to a very unhealthy you.

Balance is the key to life; eating only convenient and processed food often containing growth hormones, preservatives, additives and seasons like MSG (see http://stayinformed.info/about/aboutmsg. why you should stay away from wheat (gluten), MSG and other foods that causes obesity and hypertension) may lead to weight gain, obesity, diabetes, hypertension and other diseases.

Here are a few suggestions to becoming lean and fit:

Substitute your sugar drinks such as sodas and juices for water, organic decaf green or ginger tea. Drink 30 minutes before or after each meal (see http://stayinformed.info/health/healthid... ).

When eating, help the digestive process. Take your time and chew your food 3 to 4 times longer than usually take ( break it down to almost a liquid). This will aid in the digestive process. Add fiber and substitute some daily choices like (fruits, vegetables, dairy, and meats) with organic selection. The organic foods do not contain the growth hormones, MSG, preservatives, gluten, and artificial flavoring may lead to weight gain.

Remove or reduce wheat, dairy, sugar, and processed food (junk foods, can foods, food in boxes, restaurants foods, fast foods, etc.).

Enjoy your life, exercise when ever you get the opportunity, go for a walk, jog, swim, go out dancing, play sports, or just do what you enjoy a lot and incorporate exercise. These things will get you on your way to being healthier which will translate into a smaller and more vibrant you.

This will help you to day tomorrow and for the rest of your life.
Pray to Jesus, and he will make you a beautiful skinny person.

All the girls will find you charming, and all the guys will be jealous of you.

We can all be skinny, like Jesus.
well, just try to being more healthy. and don't compare you to your brother, my friend is just like that, 5'8 and skinny as a pole, i sometimes wish i could be like that, but then i realise that our genetics are different. so, its okay, don't be embarrassed.

but just eat healthier, if you embarrassed about working out, try swimming, that is just as much excersize. So, also, try becoming a vegetarian, i have heard of it working for lots of people to get very skinny. i also know someone who lost a ton of weight after he became a vegetarian. i don't eat much meat myself.
here is a few simple things to lose weight with and not going to cost you your life savings, vinegar seeing your size around half a cup a day split in several doses like meds Vitia's b and dieters green tea china store or health foods not the reg. store brands run up stair a lot every day walk around those mile tracks in your parks open air is better then the gums believe it.
i've been in your position, and i know how you feel i'm 6' too...my advice is this: just work out. if you feel self conscious, remember that if you're very overweight, most people in the gym are positive people, and they might give you a glance, and think "he's trying to better himself good for him"...and that would be that...but just listen to your music, and the people around you seem to just dissappear. After a month or two, you'll feel much less self conscious. good luck!

oh, and as far as your brother eating and eating, that has to do with his metabolic rate, or how fast his body processes food...just luck of the draw, his is fast, yours is slow...
You have to take a stand and change the way you eat from now on. Walking can help if you do it daily and I know what you mean about other people eat and never gain weight. You can also try the counting of your calories. If you count your calories you eat every day and stop eating for that day when you reach 1600 calories per day you could loose weight quickly. Check with your Dr. before doing it to be safe.
The first answer was great, and I would also add to his..

Some peoples metabolism runs slow, some run really fast.. Your brother burns calories at a higher rate, so he can eat all day and not gain weight.

You need to look at reducing Calories while increasing excercise. Now reducing calories is not NOT eating. reduce the easy calories such as starches and sugars, increase or remain same wtih vegetables, salad, broccoli and other stuff is good to eat.

0 calorie snacks are good also. Celery actually takes more calories to process than it gives. air popped popcorn (raw popcorn not flavored) is almost 0 calorie.

Now something alot of people do not understand. A persons body like to be at what is called Homeostasis.. Each persons body finds this level at a different place. Ever try to lose weight and cant go any farther, or gain weight and cant get past that certian point.. well that is your body at homeostasis. When your body reaches that point, it can actually increase the ability (or decrease) for the body to absorb calories. So if you are taking in 2000 calories a day, you might only absorb 1600, for an 80% effectiveness.. you cut down to 1800 calories a day, you could have about a 90% effectivness and stay at 1600 usable calories, your body output would be reduced...

I am not saying where the body feels homeostasis is, is a good point, sometimes it is bad, but the body has "gotten used to it"..
Try low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein, and exercise. The foods are low caloried, and yet filling and healthy.

It is my lifestyle now. I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and a hour brisk walk 5 times a week, and I have lost 31lbs/14kg and gained better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs/49kg for more than a year, with more fruits and complex carbs.

Details such as my experience, meals, recipes, foods to buy, reading labels, walking as an exercise and to shape the body etc etc, are in my blog.

To successfully lose weight, you must carry out
a plan to balance your caloric intake with exercise.
Ideally, dieting should be done by eating a nutritionally
balanced, low-calorie diet and increasing physical activity.
