Need help with losing weight and exercising, 10 pts for the most thought out answer?
Question:
i dont eat a lot of junk food. i hate pop and chips (i'm weird like that). the worst my food gets would be granola bars and chocolaty cereals. sometimes ice cream, but i can live without all those things for a while.
my question is: what would it take to lose the weight i wanna lose and tighten up a bit? should i cut calories or carbs or both? how many of each?
also, i cant go to a gym or out to swim cause of transportation problems - so for exercise everything needs to be done at home. so i am limited to: jogging, walking, playing basketball with my brother (when he feels like it, bleh), weightlifting (5 lb weights), and floor exercises such as crunches, pushups, ect. , but for how long and how vigorous do my exercises need to be?
again: 10 pts for the most thought out answer..
Answers:
First off, let me start by saying YOU WILL NOT LOSE 15 LBS IN THREE WEEKS. It's not safe.
The 'safest' maximum weight you can lose in three weeks i NINE pounds. You could, theoretically, lose fifteen pounds in five weeks-- but that's unlikely. If you're losing more than two pounds a week, it's going to rollercoaster right on back to you later.
Anyway, for weight loss, here's what I suggest:
1) You said you already eat healthy, BUT...
- You really should be eating five small meals a day, try to make them as healthy as you can. Since you're trying to lose weight, try to eat 500 less calories than you need per day.
2) Drink 8 glasses of water per day
- It helps get the toxins out of your body, it helps speed up metabolism, and it makes you feel less hungry.
3) Weight train-- if nothing else, use dumbbells
- Even if you only get two five pounders, it'll help immensely. I promise. You can do biceps, chest, triceps, back, legs, and abdomen with dumbbells-- most versatile in my opinion. This exercise set, if you do it every other day, should be about an hour. Don't weight train every day.
4) Try jogging about 3 miles in a half hour
- You really should be going at about six miles per hour for maximum heartrate and benefits. Three miles would be a half hour at six miles per hour, which would be perfect for you.
5) Limit your crunches/pushups
-Instead of doing a set amount daily, try cutting back your pushups and situps to every other day, and instead do double the amount every other day. It'll show more gain. Your muscles need time to rebuild.
6) Give your body at least one, if not two, 'rest days' per week
-After each three days jogging/etc., make sure to give your body a break. It needs time to rebuild your muscles.
Good luck, hope this helped!
go on specialk diet
You may want to focus on your health more so than your weight. You need to know that sugar, junk food, and fast food are not your friends when it come to being fit (You know being fit means you will be at your ideal weight). You may want to consider eating more natural fruits in vegetables in your daily diet and remove or reduce wheat, dairy, and sugar. Eat fresh food not processed food (food in boxes, restaurants, etc.) is always better. Drink water, green or ginger tea 30 minutes before or after each meal. These things will get you on your way to being healthier which will translate into a smaller and more vibrant you. Look at http://stayinformed.info/kitchen.html... in the kitchen section on why you should stay away from wheat (gluten), MSG and other foods that causes obesity and hypertension.
When eating, take your time and chew your food 2 to 3 times longer than you’re accustom to. This will aid in digestion. Add fiber and organic choices to your diet. All the growth hormones, MSG, preservatives, gluten, and artificial flavoring may lead to weight gain.
Get exercise, walk or jog, go out dancing, play sports, or just do what you enjoy a lot and incorporate exercise. This will help you to day tomorrow and for the rest of your life.
it is a good thing that u do not drink pop because it makes you gain weight so that is not weird. Walking and drinking water ( i have found) works very effectively. Walk 1 hour a day. it helps to loose weight and good for your cardio. Good luck.
Well to start your exercise plan seems great. But your weight loss plan needs revising.
You cannot safely and permanently loose more than 1 pound a week. any more than that is pure fluid. when your body looses fluids your metabolism slows down then you don't burn as many calories.
70% of your calorie intake should come from a variety of fruits and vegetables. Eat 5-6 small meals a day to keep your metabolism revved up and drink plenty of water. Keeping a trailmix snack with you to ward of hunger is a good energy booster. stay away from you sugery snacks like you are already doing.
Vigorous exercise is not the answer unless you are training for a marathon or game, constant, moderate movement like you are doing is better.
You didn't gain your weight in a few weeks don't expect it to come off that quick.
My doctor just put me on a diet/exercise program and told me that it is important to not only cut calories, but to ensure that your calories are spread out evenly through the food groups. You shouldn't just cut carbs or fats. He did say that cutting sweets is the top thing to go. Look for sweets with low calories (such as a tootsie pop) if you have to have something.
For exercise, he told me 20-30 minutes of exercise a day, something that gets your heart going (fast walking, dancing, jogging). It can be done in 10 min groups. The crunches, pushups, etc will help to tone but doesn't lose the weight as fast.
I'm 39, 5'4" and very overweight. My calorie per day is 1500 (per my doctor).
