Low Cal then Binge issue?

Question:
So, today was my birthday and I knew that I would be eating a lot of junk ( which even though I'm on a diet, I'm fine with, because a) you only live once and b) it was my birthday!) so yesterday, I purposely ate very little (around 800 calories) to save for today. My question is, is that wise? I'm so stuffed right now from all the cookies, sweets, etc. I ate and I know I went way over what I should have calorie/fat wise, but is the effect of my binge less because of my few calories yesterday? Or does it not really matter as a binge is a binge?

And as a side note, I could totally use some moral support here, I'm trying hard not to, but I feel awful about myself and my binge...

Answers:
Well, you just have to relax, knowing:

The most effective way to lose weight is to create a calorie deficit over time, but a moderate one.

You did that yesterday, to the extreme. And today you swung in the opposite direction. So it DOES balance out to a point.

Yeah, you'll be bloated for a day or two -- enjoy it if you can.

But the danger lies in excessive binging or restriction over the long term. Those lifestyles toy with your insulin, growth hormone, thyroid hormone and more.

Hormones rule everything. But what you did, is very easy to recover from. If anything, you'll be in the bathroom a bit more often.

And by the way, the easiest way to get out of a food trap after the fact is to get that fiber moving it all along, since junk food has so little fiber. So, eat Eat EAT celery, carrots, dark greens and all that and you will feel and look better sooner than if you'd not used that trick.

Good Luck -- no need to worry... :)
