It depends on how old you are and other physiological factors as well. An average diet is usually between 1500 and 2500 calories a day. Most liquid diets and weight loss diets are 1000 or less. The best way to figure out what your intake should be is to measure your calories and weigh yourself frequently. You should be able to adjust your caloric intake so that you maintain your weight or gain or lose weight if you choose to.
