How to gain weight?.....?

Question:
I'm 6'4 and skinny (165lbs) I want to gain healthy weight probably around 20 lbs of muscle. I workout almost everyday, I'm not a big fan of supplements and I'm on a tight budget, is there any good healthy foods I should be eating? I don't want to eat fatty foods such as mcdonalds etc. because they are empty calories but what foods are good in helping build muscle? BTW I'm 19 years old. I know the metabolism slows down as you get older but I'm not looking to get fat I'm looking to get muscular?

thanks

I was in the same position as you. What works is a good combination of eating and exercising. If you're a hardgainer like I was, try eating about 22 calories per pound of LEAN body mass per day. WATCH YOUR BODY! If you start to notice an extra amount of fat start to accumulate, cut back your numbers. You should be able to find info about how to figure your lean body mass on the internet. Also, try to eat 1.5-2 grams of protein per the same. You of course want to eat as regularly as possible, every 2-3 hrs. preferably. WATCH YOUR FATS. Saturated and Trans fats are BAD. Unsaturated fats are GOOD. You certainly want to make sure you are putting on the right kind of weight. Always, and I mean always, keep your meals NUTRITIOUS, and eat vegetables with every meal. Keeping your food intake nutritious will help your body adapt to putting on the right type of weight in a short period of time.

In weightlifting, exercise each body part ONCE per week with freeweights. I could go on for a long time about proper ways to train, but if you’re looking for size, the hypertrophy range of reps is 8-12. Keeping your failed rep in this range will help to blow you up. Keep your workouts intense and explosive, and not lasting longer than an hour. Also, focus on movements which recruit a large number of muscles to use. Squats, even though most people hate them, are absolutely PARAMOUNT to putting on weight. Also learn to Deadlift, Military Press, Bench Press, and Powerclean.

Now, let's look at sprint training. Using high intensity interval training (HIIT), sprinting will boost your natural HGH levels by about 82%. Artificial HGH is the new stuff a lot of athletes have turned to to give their training a massive steroidal boost. The great thing about interval sprint training is that it is like an all natural steroid without any side effects and will increase your results many times over. But, be sure that HIIT is the ONLY cardio train that you do, otherwise you will hinder your results.

I hope this helps you out, and remember, if you're not eating the right way, your results will be ENORMOUSLY hindered. Believe me, I've been there, it’s about a 50/50 split between exercising and eating the right way. I've been in this field for a while now, and I've come across a full on program by a guy named Sean Nalewanyj. Out of all the programs I've come across, his seems to be the most foolproof and step-by-step/hand-in-hand. firstly working out every day isn't the trick. high protein foods are good for that e.g beans, chicken and the best of all soya beans. i hope this is some kind of help?
Weight lift 5x a week. Eat foods like peanut butter sandwitches and cottage cheese. Lean steaks and whole grain pasta. good luck!
eat ice-cream
eat your heart out
i had a problem where i was too skinny and my dietician wanted me to gain weight healthily, maybe this will work somewhat for you even if you just want to gain muscle?

there are a lot of foods which have 'good fat' which are healthy. Some of these foods include
- nuts (almonds, macadamias, any of those)
- avocado (yuuum try it on toast so yummy)
- homus dip (i have healthy wraps which are lebanese bread with carrot, tomato etc and with lots of homus dip they taste really good. homus contains chikpeas which are healthy for you)

the really best way to gain muscle is by exercising but i bet you already knew that ;) if you work out everyday theres not really much extra you can do unless you change your routine

good luck! xx
I was in your boat I was 6'8 and 75 KG, It starts with your diet, eat lots of meals during the day. If you feel hungry then you are going to loose weight. I ate allot of tuna for the great protein in it but you could eat steak and pasta and peanut butter if its low in fat. Basically eat lots of protein calcium iron and about half carbs for energy. With your workouts you may be burning muscle if you don't have those carbs in there to give you energy. You should do slow heavy reps and less of them, allot of people do about ten sets of something and feel really good but they are just burning muscle. Do about 4 sets of 4 reps with as much as you can lift. You will be sore as heck after the first workout but after the pain you will notice the new size and strength in weeks! I hope you do good and also be consistent with it no matter how tired you are!!

Proteins are required for building muscles, so having high protein foods like eggs, milk, peanut butter, protein shakes will help you in gaining weight. Starchy foods contain a lot of carbohydrates. You can find more information at http://www.toloseweight.org/gainweight.h...
