Drinking water while dieting?

Question:
I've been excercising to lose weight and I got sweaty. If I drink water wouldn't that be like putting tat sweat back in my body. If I drink a lot of water would I gain a lot of weight? How does it work?

Answers:
Water suppresses the appetite naturally and helps the body metabolize fat.

Studies have shown that a decrease in water intake will cause fat deposits to increase, while an increase in water intake can actually reduce fat deposits.

Here's why: The kidneys can't function properly without enough water. When they don't work to capacity, some of their load is dumped onto the liver.

One of the liver's primary functions is to metabolize stored fat into usable energy for the body. But, if the liver has to do some of the kidney's work, it can't operate at full throttle. As a result, it metabolizes less fat, more fat remains stored in the body and weight loss stops.

Drinking enough water is the best treatment for fluid retention.

When the body gets less water it perceives this as a threat to survival and begins to hold onto every drop. Water is stored in the extra cellular spaces (outside the cell walls). This shows up as swollen feet, legs and hands.

Diuretics offer a temporary solution at best. They force out stored water along with some essential nutrients. Again, the body perceives a threat and will replace the lost water at the first opportunity. Thus, the condition quickly returns.

The best way to overcome the problem of water retention, is to give your body what it needs--plenty of water. Only then will stored water be released.

The overweight person needs more water than the thin one.

Larger people have larger metabolic loads. Since we know that water is the key to fat metabolism, it follows that the overweight person needs more water.

Water helps maintain proper muscle tone.

It does this by giving muscles their natural ability to contract and by preventing dehydration. It also helps to prevent the sagging skin that usually follows weight loss--shrinking cells are buoyed by water, which plumps the skin and leaves it clear, healthy and resilient.

Water helps rid the body of wastes.

During weight loss, the body has a lot more waste to get rid of--all that metabolized fat must be shed. Again, adequate water helps flush out waste.

Water can help relieve constipation.

When the body gets too little water, it siphons what it needs from internal sources. The colon is one primary source. Result? Constipation. But, when a person drinks enough water, normal bowel function usually returns.
Drinking water is good, because it contains no calories or sugar. If you are weight training however, you could try accelerade, which is a drink that also has protein.
water doesn't make you gain weight at all. your body gets rid of it all by either using it in its processes or through urination. if you sweat, you need to replenish the water your body has lost so you don't become dehydrated.
If all your losing is water weight then your not losing weight at all you need to lose the fat, and watch what you eat. It takes tame to lose weight the right way. If you do it the right way, it will be more likely to say off. It's a life changing habit.
Drinking water is one of the most important dieting tools. It fills you up without any calories and speeds up your metabolism.
sweat is good it does make you lose weight but its not just sweat that does it. water is just water it has no caloreis so it has nothing to make make you fat. water is basically a liquid nothign that our bodies need to keep hydrated. but if you drink sodas and coffees and crap like that then your sweat is dirty but if it is just water that you drink then your sweat is good and clean. but when you drink water you will oly gain water weigth which your pee out. lol. so dont worry you doing great.
If you are dieting, you should drink at least 2 quarts of water per day. It helps take out the toxins from your body. You need to stay hydrated.
Drinking water is the best thing for your body, it flushes out all the toxins and McD's fat cells. Your pee should be light yellow. If it is BRIGHT yellow, you are not drinking enough and you are actually dehydrated. Water goes thru your body in 15 minutes. It is a free cleaning agent. Without water, your poop becomes extremely hard-like rocks and that is painful to pass.
Some places say 8-8oz glasses a day, others say 1/2 of your weight, so if you weigh 200 #, you drink 100 oz of water. which is about 11-12 8 oz glasses

Sweating is good, that is your body getting the ickies and toxins out of your bod. Be sure to shower otherwise you will have sticky skin

Some toxins that come out of your body are like bacon fat, so you smell like fried bacon. Other people who eat lots of garlic, smell like garlic, same as for smokers, their body stinks of the stuff coming out of their body.

Keep exercising and drink the water.
The more water you drink the more weight you lose. If you start drinking water your body is going to sweep easily fat cells and retained water, if you don't drink water your body thinks you're out of it and as a result begin retaining water.
Believe me as a personal experience, drink lots of water (8 glasses/day at least) this helped me lose 15 pounds, with diet and exercise of course. Good luck.
Sweat isn't fat. So, losing fluids and putting the fluids back in will actually HELP you stay healthy long enough to continue burning CALORIES (some of which comes from fat.)

Dehydration is VERY dangerous, and people who try to sweat off weight are not actually losing ANYTHING except very temporarily.
Water is very important all the time, not only when dieting.
Water will pass through your body and will not make you gain weight. It has no calories in it! Water flushes out your system and it is very important to drink water when you sweat or you may get dehydrated. It is recommended to drink at least 6 8oz. glasses of water a day and it comes with a lot of other health benefits too.

Exercising will burn calories but don't expect to lose much weight without watching what you eat too.
A good rule for losing weight is eat less (eat small healthy portions and don't starve) and move (be active) more.

I learned all the above from joining Weight Watchers and I lost 30 pounds.
Helpful Tips for weight loss:

1)A good way to loose weight is to use a calorie counter watch

Keep to a 1,200 food intake

Add 1,200 plus 3,500 (equals one pound of fat) ...and that is the total amount of calories you need to burn each day. Its actually really easy once you start watching the numbers and it doesn't seem like work or exercise. Its just a matter of changing the way you think about loosing weight.

I use this method when i gain some pounds. The first time I did this I went from 168 to 127

2) Most people do not get enough water in their system. Water is your body's principal chemical component, comprising, on average, 60 percent of your weight. Every system in your body depends on water. For example, water flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells and provides a moist environment for ear, nose and throat tissues.

Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don't have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. To determine if you are getting enough water use this simple formula.. Take your weight, for example 150 pounds and divide by 2. Take your answer which is 75 lbs and change it to ounces, in this case 75 ounces. That is how many ounces of water you need a day. Your body performs mostly on water. If you make sure you get enough water everyday your body will perform at top notch and your body will no longer have the cravings of junk food. You will have a better performing body system to help you work out and feel better thru out your day.
Sweat is actually your body's natural way of cooling down as well as way for your body to excrete toxins out of your skin. Urinating is also the other way your body releases toxins as well as any excess water. Your body is made up of roughly 2/3 water and as your body uses what is stored (through sweating, urinating, salivating ect.), you need to replace it. If you do not regularly drink water (or even eat food) your body will go into "survival" mode. Since there isn't a constant source of water (or food) it will start to store what you are putting into your body instead of releasing it. So what happens if you do not drink enough water is water-weight gain. The only way to combat water-weight gain is to drink plenty of water. This lets your body know it will be receiving more and your body will start to release what it's been storing for "survival." You'll notice that the more water you drink, the more you'll have to go to the bathroom...but remember, your body is not only excreting what you are now drinking, it's also releasing the water that was previously stored. Therefore it's very important to drink water, especially to keep your body properly hydrated and functioning efficiently. In fact, the more water you drink on a consistent basis, the better your body will respond to weight loss in general.
All of these answers are good. The ones that have been researched are the best. There is nothing I can add to anyone of them. These that have did the research has your health in mind. You would be doing yourself harm if you did not follow their advice. I forgot, there is something I can add to the equation. This is a true story : There was a radio contest going on, I forgot what state, to see who could drink the most water in the least amount of time. Well, as it turns out, the girl who won, died of drinking to much to fast. She was found the next morning, in her bed, cold dead. She had drunk 2 gal. of water in 2 hours.
What happens to the body is this : Your body functions shuts down. First you get a head ache. You don't get the urge to urinate. There is more, or the same amount of water in your system as there is blood. Your brain does not get the oxygen it needs to keep the brain going. Well, anyway, you get the picture.
