Did you notice that in your question you did not mention at all the "problem" you are trying to solve?
If you lose 8 pounds, your body mass index (BMI) will be only 22.1, which is a little more than the minimum healthy measurement for a woman (see the charts on my reference website below).
If you run, say, 15 miles a week, that will be 1500 calories. If you keep your calorie intake steady, the weight will fall off all by itself.
I am shocked that a doctor could give you medication to help you lose weight, when there is clearly no medical need for you to do so and even more shocked that a nurse could advise you to stop taking exercise, the benefits of which far outweigh efforts to lose weight that a. you don't need to lose and b. you will lose anyway if you keep jogging. I would strongly advise you to get some independent advice from a different doctor.
Your weight loss is normal.
I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and a hour brisk walk 5 times a week, and I have lost 31lbs and gain better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs for more than a year.
I am not on any programme or treatment and yet I am able to lose all these weight and maintain.
Details such as meals, recipes, walking as an exercise and to shape the body etc etc, are in my blog
