I keep gaining weight...?

Question:
i started a diet so that i would be more healthy. I have been dieting for 6 weeks now... basically, i avoid cheeses, potatoes, red meat, eggs, and anything that seems like it has way too much fat, carbs, or sugar (ex. snack cakes, chocolate, mayo.) last summer i was tested for a hypothyroid gland, and i didn't have one. I also excersize... to be realisitic, its probaby just about 15 minutes day, every other day... but to make up for what im not getting in a long and thorough work out, i wear 2.5 ankle weights on each ankle during the day. (this is still more excersize than what i usually would get) my portion sizes are reasonable, not small but not large. i do not skip breakfast (i eat a fruit n yogurt parfait from mcdonalds for breakfast) and i've cut back on my soda intake. i'm not pregnant either... when i started my diet, i weighed 148. i weigh 159.9 now. what am i doing wrong? ive noticed my weight gain in my breasts, lower belly and my bum.

Answers:
okay, that's weird. i will give you some tips that may help you to figure out what wrong. (are you that its not because you started without eating almost anything and really slowed your metabolism or something?)
make a notebook in which you write every little thing you eat and drink+amounts.
you should eat between 200-500 calories less than what you are supposed to eat to keep on the same weight. (don't eat just 1000, its way too little)
check how much calories the food you eat, don't just take it off(the second link >"Search Foods").
you are supposed to eat 55%-60% ccarbohydrate, 15% protein, 30% fat (yes, your body need it) and not more than 10% Saturated fatty. make sure you do, it playes a great role in losing weight.
swiming is good, and also climbing the stairs instead of using the elevator (very good). park far from your destination.
drink lots of water (lots of researches say that people who drink diet drinks- like light cola- most times gain weight).
oil is fattning, try using as little as possible oil in salads and cookink. try putting oil in a sprayer (or to buy one).

its the fruit n yogurt parfeit lol theres like 600 calories in the small one
it's probably muscle, muscle weighs more than fat
You grew taller, more muscle Don't eat at McDonalds as much. It seems like they soak everything in grease.
ok, you need meat and protien because what you are eating doesn't include very much protien. Also, don't eat Mcdonalds, if you look up the ingredients in the fruit and yogurt parfait, it really isn't as good for you as fresh fruit, it will be a cheaper and healthier breakfast. i also don't think the weights are a very good idea on your ankles because after a while your legs will get weak, you could join a gym and go every other day. that will get you to a healthy weight.
First of all, ankle weights are a bad idea. Why? Because they aren't safe for your back, walking with these things on will pressure your back too much. Having them in your hands is more of a "natural" way. Get rid of them!
Secondly, realistically-more exercise is needed. 15 minutes a day isn't much, are you working hard in the 15 minutes? For weight loss the body needs to really be pushed for a minimum (and this is bare minimum) for 20-30 minutes to burn fat. Your body doesn't even start to dig into the fat storage until about 20 minutes. Increase your exercise (it should be some form of cardio) to 30 minutes daily, and give yourself one day off a week for rest. In order for exercise to work, it must be done consistent, and daily, it will also take focus. It looks like you have a great focus on the diet part, now turn the focus to the exercise too and you'll see changes.
Thirdly, cut back on your portions. It looks like you're on the right track, but just cut back. Hope this helps..
