My blood sugar & cholesterol are a bit high-will 1% milk with sugar-free chocolate syrup do me any harm?
Question:
Answers:
I'd say the slimfast shakes are more likely to do you harm than lowfat milk and sugarfree chocolate syrup.
Slimfast shakes have 40 grams of carbs, and 34 of those grams are sugar. If you have high blood sugar, you should be avoiding those shakes.
I'm not a doctor, so this is just my opinion.
I don't think that it's gonna harm if it's a small portion, but it's best to check in with your doctor.
no
Ironically enough, studies have shown that the best way to reduce your cholesterol is to limit your fat intake - especially saturated fats. You can do some more reading about it on sites like webmd.com or eatright.org. Regarding 1% with sugar-free chocolate syrup, it's best if you drink skim milk, but 1% is better than whole so I'd say your ok. I would only drink the SlimFast shakes if your using them entirely as directed - and for a very short time. Because they are designed to be meal replacements, they have a high number of calories and carbohydrates, so I wouldn't suggest drinking them as a "beverage."
Are you diabetic? If so, you need to add the total carbohydrates for each meal up to 60, no more. Have your physician refer you to a nutritionist for the best eating plan for you. The same is true if you aren't diabetic, but carbohydrate planning is not as vital.
Check the label of the chocolate syrup for carbs, fat, calories, etc.
not likely. milk has some saturated fats but 1 percent is pretty good.
u might want to check the saturated fat and cholesterol content per serving on the chocolate even though the manufacturer has managed to eliminate all/ most of the sugar.
one helpful tip- have a teaspoon of cinnamon a day. in ur grocery store, it will be there in the spice aisle and comes in a sprinkler bottle.
that much cinnamon is proven to reduce blood sugar and cholesterol levels. it is no magic pill though.
sprinkle some in ur oatmeal, bread , cereal or some black tea.
if ur having european style coffee, stop. their pressing techniques are linked to raising ur cholesterol.
american techniques i.e. percolation or drip doee not, so it's ok.
one thing about coffee, in diabetics, it raises blood sugar.
but for non-diabetics, it actually helps u prevent diabetes.
kinda a catch 20-20 huh?
