when i was 16 i lost 60 lbs. in 8 months w/out exercise. i;m 24 now and i exercise to keep the weight down. it depends on you age. 20 and under you can lose 1-3 pounds a week just by dieting or eatign according to the pyramid. older 25- older need to exercise and diet more strictly.

the best thing to do is figure out how many calories you require a day. Now cut that by 500 calories. 3500 calories = 1 pound of fat. So it will take you 1 week to lose a pound. You can increase this further by adding some exercise.
You have to exercise as well. Your body will just slow its metabolism down to cope with the loss of calories plus it will attack your muscle cells first. Overall you will feel very sluggish as your body attacks itself for nutrients. You should just start walking around the neighborhood every other day if you don't like exercising.
