Does weight gain affect a man's sex drive?

Question:
My BF has gained about 50+ pounds since we first got together and I'm wondering if this could be the cause of his lowered sex drive. He's not self-conscious so it's not that. I want to know if physically weight gain does something to lower men's sex drive (other than the obvious like he gets tired faster.)

thanks!

Answers:
Weight gain has psychological as well as physical implications. Psychologically, even if he is not self-conscious, he may be very aware of how different his body looks when he is naked, or he may question your attraction to him and thus feel less confident. There is a lot that may be operating on a sub-conscious level. Physically, extra weight is draining to carry around, it lowers a persons energy during the day, makes it more difficult to maneuver the body, it puts extra stress on the heart, the joints of the body, and the internal organs (if it is mostly visceral fat ((belly fat)). I don't know if it was an intentional weight gain because he is thin, or if it just sort of happened. Either way, it might help both of you to go be more physical outside of the house together. Go for walks, take a class in kickboxing or something. Get physical together. It's been proven that men who get to see their women perform physically outside of the bedroom find them more desirable. like a natural viagra. :) I'm not trying to say that you need it, but if you get him feeling good about himself and about you. it may swing things in your favor. Best of luck to you.and I hope that since you've written this, you've talked to him about it, because more than anything, it's an issue that you need to be open and honest about.

The other thought. how long have you two been together? If you've been together for a long time, he may just be getting comfortable in a routine that has slowly involved less sex as time has gone on. Do something to surprise him, and shake things up! :)
The drive is still there, but like you said the performance goes downhill.
of course! and not that he gained lbs. but if those 50 lbs are from fat, then yes.

if he is 50 lbs overweight, it's very possible he has blood pressure prolbems
Absolutely. You also need to look at how he gained the 50 pounds. His diet can affect his sex drive. If he is eating Twinkies and other junk food instead of healthy meals, this will affect his drive. There is also the issue of metabolism. Does he sit around more now than he used to? Active people usually have a stronger drive.
Yes. When a man is gaining weight, his metabolism slows down. His chemical drives slow down.
When a man is losing weight, such as from a lot of working out and dieting, his metabolism is increasing and his chemical drives are speeding up.
You have to get him to the gym. He will be a much better lover for you if you get him to work out.
yes does effec the drive the more ur in shape the better the drive
Yes. He's not gonna want you. He's gonna want cake. Whip him back into shape or dump him. He won't get it back up until he gets his weight down.
