I am taking water pills to help combat Edema.

First, you need to get your edema under control before you go on a diet. Did the doctor tell you why you have edema? If you diet now, you won't know if the scale is reflecting water buildup or loss. There are many reasons for edema, but it is good to keep your protein ingestion high and your salt and carbohydrate ingestion low.
Once your edema is under control, then you need to set small, reasonable monthly goals. A goal of 3-5 pounds a month is reasonable. You want your weight loss to be stable. People who lose weight quickly usually gain all their weight back plus more, and then it usually levels off.
If you can walk, add some walking into routine. Schedule your walks. If you can afford it, a motorized treadmill is a good investment.
If you go to a dietitian, they will tell you stupid things like don't eat any sweets or rich foods. Don't bother to try to be perfect. If you officially allow yourself treats, you are less likely to be neurotic and lose control when you see, smell or think about treats.
Low fat diets are counterproductive. The mitochondria in the cells uses fat to burn off energy. You should be on a medium fat diet, or your metabolism will suffer. Don't eat too much fat, because if the mitochondria can't use it, then the fat will just be stored as fat. This is one of the real reasons the French weigh less than the Americans.
Always stop when you are full and always leave at least one full bite on the plate. You need to get out of the habit of finishing everything on your plate. You need to become in tune with your true hunger. You may have some hunger when you are trying to lose weight. You will just have to accept it.
ok heres a urban story, that i will only tell you.! and the thing is it works! ok wat you have to do is grab a fist full of blubber then poke a little hole on the blubber you grabbed, either poke it with a needle or pen or some sharp object. then once there is a hole then squeeze the blubber you got in your hand and then the fat will ooze out. make sure you have a bucket to drip the fat into...I am a doctor, and surgeon.
